Congrats Chris. You are big part of that. Very brag worthy.

3.99 to the 4.20 range here in downstate NY currently. But if we want, we can scoot across the border into NJ and gas up for usually .30-.40cents cheaper per gallon.

Its bombs away in this house...All of my kids thought; if you pulled anyones finger, you could make them fart til they were about 8 years old. Farts have thier place in society. I mean...a fart at the ball game would not have the same effect as one...Hmmm... Lets say on a elevator or with the wife shopping:clown:.

I grew up in NYC not hunting or shooting until I was about 20(48 now) , but was always interested in the outdoors. I live and am raising my family 40 miles north north west of NYC. I still work in NYC and currently am at Ground Zero working on the 9/11 memorial. I am around fast fast, loud and lots of crowds all day. I cannot wait to hear the nothing that my tree stand delivers. Hunting means the ability to be in tune with nature and it surroundings. Time to appreciate all of the wonderful things God has created for us to enjoy. Because this world we are in, just didn't happen. Through hunting I have shared many great experiences with my 3 sons and strenghtend bonds with friends and family. There is not a day that goes by that I do not talk about hunting or educate someone about nature, hunting and land management. I live for the weekend so I can hi tail it out of the BIG city, and I mean big city. To our country house/hunting camp in NY's Catskills... Every weekend. I mean ...EVERY weekend. We are fortunate to have 63 acres that we manage wildlife and timber on. I have given my sons the hunting/shooting bug real bad. I always tell them...Ain't you glad Daddy didnt take up stamp collecting? My wife is supportive, but not into anything outdoors. A city gal all the way. She don't know where I got my Redneck from. Nor do I. I trap/hunt/fish/shoot and reload. I feel so right doing the aforementioned. Made some great friends along the way too. Killing something is a plus. But a not necessary part of enjoying the outing. But a hunter is who I am and what I do. Right down to killing rats on the job:D.

Pins and needles...needles and pins. A happy man is the one who grins. Yes...Cody I like Stained. I like Aaron Lewis also. His Country boy song hits home to alot of folks. Especially at this crucial election time with the line. "I never needed the Gov't to hold my hand" Quite profound. If I may gentlemen... Dont jump on anyone who proclaims their faith, and dont jump on anyone who has no faith. This IS America. Both types are at home.

I was in the low 20's here Friday night. I think they passed up snow and right to frigid here!
-
Thats cool Cody Big brothers are quite important. Good for you. I know my son Joe is quite the mentor to his yonger brothers AJ and Mike. You will always have a hunting partner that way!
-
Oh Yeah Luke...That is a BIG one for sure! I have read that 99% of the time Black Bear will avoid human confrontations...For once I don't want to be a 1%er! Make that shot count...Hope you get him!

Archery shops are fickle in lots of ways. Many tell you the bow they sell is the best one. Thats why they are selling it. They don't tell you we switched to selling this brand because we get them cheaper and can sell at a higher mark up. Also...When you go into a archery shop, don't tell them your not buying right away... just trying them out. They might abandon you since you are not buying/spending. Especialliy if the store is busy. Which most are about this time of the year. I started with a used bow for $100 and worked my way up to a Matthews. Shoot as many bows as you can and you will know whats right for you. Having a budget helps.
-
Some good advice there Corey. Hope things are getting better.
-
If I can pull a trigger I will gun hunt. If I cannot draw a bow in the presence of a animal... I will not bow hunt. If I can set a trap. I will trap. As long as the body lets me go on...I will keep on at it.

Happy birthday old timer. Wish ya one hundred more.
-
Yeah that does bite. Sorry to hear that. Do you have alternative plans? Other places to hunt?
-
Happy Birthday Y'all.

Good to hear from ya Al. Its good that you are busy, but that kind of busy has a high cringe factor with the cases you handle. Glad the kids are well, the wife and you seem to good be also. Be safe.

No John...I am not wearing a kilt. But I have to admit. It does look like that. I was in boxers, flip flops and a old cutoff plaid shirt. No dress code in the country:p BTW...I havent mastered the multi quote thing yet.

That was a trail cam pic set up right outside my front door. Just bought it that day and was testing it. My bird feeder has been knocked down a few times when I have come up. But always thought it was the squirrels. The bear has been murder on my apple trees and he has been leaving me piles of yellow dumps all over laden with apple skins and seeds. I found a spot in the pines that literally has 40 to 50 piles of bear crap all over. Once I realized what I was looking at...I felt like Bugs Bunny..." ever get the feeling you was being watched?"...I high tailed it out of there. Hopefully myself, one of my sons or even my friend from the Hill country(who is hunting with me this year) gets a shot at this big boy.

I was up at my country house/hunting camp this weekend in NY's lower Catskill mtns. Region 3H. I have a routine of putting out dinner scraps and either watching a Opposum or a Grey Fox come eat it. Little did I know who would come to dinner. Look at the time of the pics! It had to be watching me. 8 minutes difference...Wow. I wasn't running far in those flip flops. I'll tell ya that much. The food scraps outside the kitchen practice is over! 12ga stays by door now. All the attibutes of a big boar. Stubby legs...Small ears. Hes a shooter. In NYS you cannot carry a gun during archery season. Even if you have a full carry concealed permit. Better make that arrow count huh? The Grey Fox

I figure if you shot them with the camera...You could have shot them with a weapon. Neat pics. Good Luck this fall.

Welcome to Realtree. No rubs yet or scrapes...But I have been physically seeing lots of doe around our land. Where the girls are , thats where the boys will be. We have lots of apple trees. A big draw. Our archery season opened on Oct 1st. This weekend will be my first deer hunts. What you have to get is a trail cam. It has really changed the game of scouting and taking inventory on your huntable land.
