Re: PLease suggest concealed carry gun. 1. Springfield XD 2. Glock 3. Smith or Taurus Ultralite 38 Revolver Caliber is not important. Buy a 9mm or 40. Factory Ammo a plenty. The hammerless 38 is still one of the finest carry pieces available. Expect to pay 450-650.

Re: O.K. Now hypothetically........... In Michigan you have to attend a Weekend class that involves classroom, time with the local prosecutor, State Police Representative and Live range fire before you can qualify for a CCW. Then you have to go before a review board (they review your background check and give your license a stamp of approval). One of the issues brought up WAS handloads. Don't use them. There have been known past presidence cases in which tort law (forget the criminal part) was found favorable to the defendant. I'll check the NRA website, it might be there as well. Now, I handload myself. I own a nice Dillion 1050. But, I carry all factory rounds for RELIABILITY purposes. Premium ammunition is less likley to create a stoppage. This ensures that all bystanders would remain safe. That's the reason to carry premium defense rounds (I think you know where I'm coming from). My attorney (who shoots with me) told me that I should say nothing if involved in a defensive shooting. let him handle it.

Re: What Bullets do you....? My House gun: Wilson Combat CQB 185+P Rem Gld Sabre My carry gun: Glock33 357sig Corbon load (I feel this is the best defensive round on the planet) My vehicle gun: H&K USP 9mm Corbon 115+P+ I shoot your same load in my Sig229. GREAT CHOICE!!

Re: Cub Cadet owners I own a 3000 (3206) it has a Kohler engine and starts right up everytime. I have a 50" deck. I have 5 acres of sprinkled lawn.......if it was up to me it would all be imperial clover....but it was not up to me. Soo, now I have 2 mowers a commercial bob-cat zero turn radius and the Cub. I also use the Cub Cadet to Snow blow my driveway in the winter. Its about a 1/4 mile long! I have burned a couple of belts up by getting chunks of ice caught in the turbine, other than that it runs like a champ. My dad has the B-series Kabota. No comparison against the cadet. Kabota is in a class of its own.

Re: Local Walmart possibly hooked up with Antigunners Why would any of you want to buy guns from Wally World anyway? Support your local gunshops!!!These are the guys that help keep the 2nd Amendment fresh and alive!

Re: Jim Zumbo\'s anti comments!! Bucky you can try to convince us all you want that he made a simple error. We are not biting! Some of these Celebs get big heads and egos. Then they think because they are on top the totem pole that thier perspective philosophy should be the golden rule (anyone remember Tom Cruize and his comment about Brooke Shields?) Nope Bucky, this is America. United we stand and divided we fall. Jim has played a dangerous Ego game and it cost him. We fought hard to repeal tha Assault weapons ban, and Jim just put a huge hole in our defenses. THIS IS ABOUT THE 2ND AMEND TO THE CONSTITUTION! It is all over the news already. Thier are no reprisals for those that cross the line and put our heritage in jepordy. Nope....no mercy for those that use thier celeb status to push thier narrow minded view points. This is an outrage! I wonder how many more gun writers are....on the other side?

Re: Jim Zumbo\'s anti comments!! I hope this is a lesson that evyone has learned. Zumbo's comment is already on the front page of every newspaper and website for the anti's to use against us. Bow hunters have to quit bashing gun hunters. Traditional hunters have to quit bashing Crossbow hunters. When you do this in an open forum (I'm not talking about silly stuff like SCOPE vs OTPG) you are doing nothing but hurting yourself. The Anti Hunting and Anti Gun movement is REAL, and its not going away soon. These ignorant comments I see sicken me. [ QUOTE ] I have and I think he is right on as far as using these so-called "assualt weapons" for hunting! They are not accurate at all and have less energy than a 30-30. That is the 7.62X39! [/ QUOTE ] STUPID! I know many people who use bolt action 7.62x39's. Also the AR-15 platform is capable of minute of angle accuracy. Jim Zumbo deserves exaxtly what he gets. This comment could set the NRA back a few years in its next battle. I own several AR-15's and his comment about a "terrorist" rifle sets my blood boiling!!!! I served my country proudly for 7 years as a Military Police Investigator and served in Central America, Mexico and West Germany. I have a right to exercise ownership to the fullest when it comes to the second amendment. I use to think that Ted Nugent was a little over the edge. Not anymore....we are going to need more like him. Think before you talk people!!!

Re: ***Remington Recall*** Does not shock me. Probably the cheapest of the cheapest turn bolts. Remington did themselves no favors here.

Re: Rifle for Quebec Caribou?? I like the 270 Weatherby. Plenty of knock down power, light recoil and flat/fast shooter. the 300 WSM would also be a great choice. Any deer cartridge will work. What your looking for is that range factor out to 400+ yards. 277 and 30 cal bullets have excellent ballistic coeficients. Look for a premium bullet that is over .450. I would favor the Nosler partition....but thats me. Scope and OPTG will have to live together on this one. The 'ol 30-06 would be and outstanding choice......just not mine.

Re: FFL Transfer Fee Transfers can be a catch22. Lets say this guy has a rifle shipped in. The rifle is paid for. You run the check...then wa la. Its denied. Its happened. Big pain in the you know what. Next thing you know his buddy walks in he wants to buy it for him.......straw purchase can't do. Now you have a rifle in your register that does not belong to you and you hope the guy can sell it to someone else thats on the up and up. Now its a grey area and you have to make sure the gun is legit or the ATF will do it for you.

Re: FFL Transfer Fee Gotta cover the overhead. Its a service provided by a licensed entity. It cost money just to possess these FFL's. To answer the other question; I'm an advid supporter and life member of the NRA. I'm also a Habitat Partner and life member with RMEF. I tend to lean toward anyone involved with these folks.

Re: serious problem Save space and leave the pack at home. Sounds like those pants will hold a lot of deer meat. Won't hurt when you fall either...........it will be just like hav'in a load in your shorts....well.....you will have a load in them thier shorts!!!!

Re: gun problems Go back to 100 yards and repeat the process. If your shot string is way off or you scatter, then base/rings are your problem (loose). Heavy barrel varmint model or sporter barrel?

Re: TC Encore 209X50 (Stasinless Steel-Realtree Camo) Ill be around this weekend PM me if your interested.

Re: Let’s talk barrels I just won a Ruger MarkII 280 this weekend at an RMEF function. I'm going to rebarrel and retrigger the rifle. What barrel would you recommend? I like Kreiger for the fast 33's, But I'm totally open for the midbore calibers. Also, what do you think about Ruger Actions? I'll probably stick to the original stock. This will be my son's deer rifle, but I'd like to see how it will shoot with a custom barrel vs the factory barrel even though the gun is brand new. So, I'll break it in...shoot some 100 yard groups and rebarrel. R&D Project.

Re: FFL Transfer Fee I charge a flat fee of $25. I charge nothing for Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation or Lifetime NRA members.
-
Re: Let’s talk barrels I hear that companies like Hart push the arbor through the barrel instead of pulling it. I have read that this also creates excessive stress on the barrel, yet Hart is know for producing some pretty good barrels. What do you think?

Cut Rifling, Button Rifling or Hammer Forged?

Re: New here What kind of groups do you get?

Re: Which gun?? I just don't favor the .243 for deer sized game. its an argument thats timeless. I look at it like this. The yote won't complain it was shot with something a little too powerful and the deer will go a little less furthur.......comprimise is winning your way!!

Re: Ok AJ this is my other WOW! I'm very impressed.

Re: New Study: OTPG Brain Dead! Excessive Recoil keeps the clots out of your blood stream and your dentist honest! Its been recommeded by the council on aging.....shakes the wrinkles out.

Re: winchester model 70 270 wby? Factory 270 Weatherby Mag ammo generally has the same COL. Of course it depends on bullet style. The “Freebore” that AJ is referring to is to accommodate for the extreme velocity and chamber pressure created by the round. I generally get around 3430 FPS out of my Fibermark using Nosler Accubond bullets. I feel the 270 Weatherby round is as close as you can get to the ideal deer round. Of course I'm on that endless quest (40 rifles and counting), but for now I will boldly make this statement.

Re: 280 being made-barrel suggestions? You can go directly to thier websites and get pricing. Chrome Moly runs a little less than stainless. Most of them run about $325-$370. Douglas has different grades. Quite honestly the top quality is reserved for bench shooters. Get the standard grade and save some money. With a good 140-150 grain Nosler, Swift, or Sierra bullet your still going to shoot .750" groups. Keep us informed of the project, we love it when a plan comes together!
