  1. Re: Getting started into Reloading...? Ah Oh, I have ran into a "Swiss Misser"! But, I do have to admit you "Okie Boys" sure can shoot. My Father-n-law has a couple of cattle ranches outside of Bartlesville. I have spent more than a time for two runnin' meat through the gates at cattle sales. You boys can fish too! You also have some good lookin long legged women! Yup, kinda like the sooner state.
  2. Re: T/C Pistol Owners Question I'm an FFL dealer and will say A-men to that! Pistol receiver only.
  3. Re: Getting started into Reloading...? Ask for a shooting catalog from www.cabelas.com. They have a lot of Kits available for the begainner. Midway USA has a video series called Gun Tech. Order the series on great handloading tips.
  4. Re: 280 being made-barrel suggestions? I think you would be happier with a #2. Great Caliber and great selection. Nothing wrong with Douglas. I have on on my super match M1A. Simply awsome. On turn bold guns I like Kreiger. But, anyone you have listed is good. For a custom mid bore gun the 280 is about as good as it gets. For The hot 33 and 375 CAL, I like the Kreiger barrels. They are cut rifled and I think it gives them a little edge over button rifled barrels. What do you guys think?
  5. Re: Anyone a fan of Jerry Miculek??? OH BOY! Another "Swiss Miss'er"
  6. Re: T/C Pistol Owners Question Because of the Smith and Wesson transition, prices are running high. Expect to pay $550+.
  7. Re: GOLD status for OPTG!!!!!!!!!! Hey Pudd, try a light load like a 400 grain Swift bullet packed in front of a case full of Relaoder 25. Its sure to be exciting! I own a 416 Safari Grade 700. I love to shoot bull frogs down at the fish pond. I really never know if I hit'em or not?
  8. Re: T/C Pistol Owners Question If you can legally use them, I would opt for the rifle calibers. If you do not handload, the 7mm-08 or the 308 Win are your best choices. Ballistically these two rounds are almost identical. One uses a .284 bullet, the other a 308. If you handload, a 300WSM with a brake would be my choice. I own a Savage Super Stryker in 308 and a Smith 460. I use the 460 in Michigan where you cannot use bottleneck cases (must be straight walled). I use the 308 in Indiana, where you can't use a rifle, but you can use a pistol in rifle calibers. The 308 is far superior (ballistically) than the 460. I have shot 2 140 class whitetails at over 250 yards with the Stryker. If you practice, use a rest (learn to shoot with extended sticks) and posess good optics, you can reach out to 275 yards on a deer sized target on a repetative basis. I handload 165 gr Nosler Ballistic tips using BLC-2 powder. I use to use the 150 gr bullet, but for some reason the 165 gr bullets are more accurate out of my pistol. On a good day I can average just under 1" from the bench using a Sinclar rest. The pistol is capable of shooting better than I can. Hope this helps. Also, go with the Encore for all of the forementioned reasons. Nice set up VTbowman! Why are you not a member of the OTPG?
  9. Re: Anyone have Experience with a S&W M&P 40 I like the Springfield XD much better. Its the same price range and the trigger...well no comparison.
  10. Re: Michael Waddell Left ? I have met the Drury boys and I can tell you they know how to hunt! They know how to have a good time too, but thats another story!! The boys are......well the boys.
  11. Re: I\'m having trouble with my scope!! Ranger clay! When are you gonna learn that the beer stays in arms reach.........duh!
  12. Re: Michael Waddell Left ? Sure is a lot of you hoosiers around here!!
  13. Re: Michael Waddell Left ? Hi guys! I was with Scott Hughes and some other Realtree folks at the shotshow. Bill, Michael and Dave all came over and signed a hat for my up coming Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation banquet. Bill and Michael are very close. Anyone around them can tell. One thing about these guys.....they are as genuine as they are on camera. Michael is a people person. He may have his mug all over the camera, but he took the time to visit with a whole lot of folks and even though he was pretty worn out, he jumped up every time anyone visited the Realtree booth. A friend of mine does some photography work for Realtree, so I bump into the Realtree folks a time or two. Being around several businesses and running a few myself, you run into all kinds of people trying to promote themselves, their products or businesses. I had visited the shotshow representing the family foam/packaging and a firearms business. I stopped in the Realtree booth and this polite young man about 12-14 came over and asked me how my hunting season went. He didn't know me from Adam and must have talked to me for 20 minutes....it was Bill Jordan's son!! Their motto is as genuine as their business. Bill made Michael and Michael has helped Bill grow. I would put good money on the fact that they will both continue to help each other grow in the future. Let’s face it, Michael is the present market Icon and needs to run with it. I believe the situation will benefit both parties....just the view of an outsider looking in.
  14. Re: Which gun?? I like the 25 cal's for this type of work 257 Roberts 25-06 and 25-06 Ackley improved 257 Weatherby Mag The Weatherby 'accumark is as good as it gets for a factory rifle, but its expensive. Since your from Ohio, you may want to think about an Encore. Muzzleloader barrel and rifle barrel. They do make a factory 25-06 barrel. If your a handloader you can have the chamber reamed for about $40 bucks. You then take standard 25-06 ammo and shoot it. This fire forms the case. Then you take reloading dies that are for an Ackley improved and reload. Turns your 25-06 into a "25-06 Magnum". OTPG members always think this way!
