  2. Had a hard year myself this year with only seeing under 15 deer for the whole hunting season including the only 2 deer that I saw this whole shot gun season. We also let the small ones walk to try to kill atleast 4.5 if we can help it. All I can say is hang in there and keep at it cause you can't kill one watching tv;) Good luck for the rest of the yr cc

  6. Congrats il on the great lookin 8. I went out this weekend and passed up on a lot of little buck with the biggest being 125 class 8 pt. I did however manage to get my hands on hold of a hen. Here is a link to the thread http://www.realtree.com/forums/showthread.php?t=79429 Gearing up for shotgun season this weekend to maybe get hold a big ol' boy:D Good luck to all the rest of your hunting season. cc
  7. I got up today really after only a few hrs of sleep and actually decided to get out of bed because there was a hard frost and the low was 28. Right as it got light I was greated by a gobble that was less that 70 yrds away. At 7:17 they flew into the corn field that I was 20yrds of off. After a few minutes of feeding on the corn I was able to see what I thought was a group of toms. I saw that only one actually was a mature tom and two others that were jakes. Naturally I wanted to get the boss tom so when he finally made it into a spot where I could shoot I took my chance only to come up short. I used my 30 yrd pin believing it was only 35 yrds and boy was I wrong:mad:. My arrow hit the ground right in front of him and then flew right past him cause the ground was frozed solid. He immediately got well out of range while the others just stood there frozen not knowing that their leader just missed the shaft:(. However they did not know where the shot came from and were all looking in the opposite direction. This gave me a chance to knock another arrow and set my pin on the next closest bird. This time I figured that the shot was at least 50 yrds and sent my beman arrow right into the the point of its wing. When I climbed down at 9:45 I was a little surprised to find that what I thought was a jake turned out to be a hen:eek: She was with the only hen with 4 other birds that were jakes and a tom. After the fact was over I used my brother's range finder to determine the actual yardage was 51 yrds. This is my first bird taken with a bow and I couldn't be more excited;):D Thanks for listening and good luck this season to all. cc
  8. Congrats on the nice buck
  9. Congrats again nj. I went out this weekend, but didn't have anything that I wanted to shoot walk in front of me. Just had a couple of little bucks with the biggest being a 130 class buck. I will continue to rack hunt until after our shotgun season then I will hunt for meat.
  10. What do you gals and guys do when bowhunting. A couple of friends were watching Monster Buck XVI, when I asked them what they personally did. I myself will yawn them. Two of them said they do nothing and will shoot them walking, while a forth said that he will yawn them when they are farther that 30 yrds otherwise he will shoot them walking.
  11. Can't say that I've had that happen to me. Thanks for sharing.
  12. Doesn't quite have the mass, but definately a shooter in my book. I would say 150's
  13. He has a good spread, but he doesn't have the best height. I would put him in the high 120's or low 130's. You can tell the rut is kicking in by you thought cause his neck sure is getting big!!
