  1. Good luck Kyle and I hope to get a call from you tonight and saturday afternoon
  2. Congrats to you and you buddies on a great hunt
  3. I killed my first this fall with a thunderhead broadhead but then I switched to the RAGE and will try to get a bird with it saturday. I think that I'm going to switch to slicktrick this summer though.
  4. I told you that I would have a contest to see who could call in the biggest bird for someone else. This being that you would call for you dad during 5th season and I would call for Nell during 3rd. Do you still want to make a bet lol. If I do make a bet it has to be with bows because that is what I'm going to use since I already have a bird on the ground.
  5. The run this morning was great. It was the hilliest course that I have ever ran but that is why I wanted to run it. Man there was the birds gobbling this morning. I think that I could hear at least 10 and that was with me running and not stopping and listening. On the way back I even saw one in a field strutting. Best run all year. Now back to the grind stone:(

    Over ambisious

I wasn't able to enjoy the great weather the central Il had today due a research paper that I have due Tuesday. To make up for it I'm going to get up and go on a run at 6 and see if I can hear any gobblers in the country by my dorm. I'm going to run 6 miles tomorrow which will be my longest since I started to train 5 weeks ago now. I'll let all of you know how I did in the morning. Then its back to writing the paper. Jared
  7. My first bird was a bearded hen that I got stuffed. Other than that I have never done anything with my other birds because lack of time and money since I go to college. Otherwise I hope to make a few turkey rugs WHISKEYSWAMP when I get out of college
  8. Hang in there and hopefully your luck will change
  9. As of right now I think that I'm going to go hunting a week from today if the weather cooperates with me this time. Thanks for the advice;) Jared
  10. Sounds like it was a great morning to take your kids out. My sisters love it when I take them turkey hunting because I don't get to see them that often.
  11. I don't know if I should risk it. I have had a great season this year. I was able to call one in for a friend opening day of second season, and then got myself one later that day. Then last saturday I was able to get parkergirl her first bird which was enormous. I have a tag to hunt the same property that she got her bird on and there are tons of turkeys on it. The problem is that that is the weekend before finals for Western. I've been busting my tail feathers on the 3 ten page papers that I have due for my various classes including 2 research projects. I just don't know if I should hunt saturday again or be a good little student and hit the books all weekend or what. Has anyone else been in this tight of a spot before? Thanks for listening Jared
  12. Sounds like a good thing he didn't go after it himself.
  13. Too bad that it was raining cause you can't see the beauty of them when they are wet. Congrats on your first bird :D;)
  14. All I can say is be patient and hopefully they will make a mistake. Good luck
  15. First of all I didnt whine and I shot it more than twice...6 times and it makes a big difference after awhile. It was more of a shock than anything because I didn't remember it kicking that bad the first time I shot it 2 years ago. Second it was way too funny seeing her trying to lug that thing across the fence cause it was as big as she was. :D too bad she only had to carry it 30 yrds because thats how far away from the truck she shot it.
  16. I don't think that I told you kyle but she shot my mosberg 835 12 guage with those 3.5 in shells:eek: She actually handled it better than I thought she would:cool:
  17. I'm not trying to make anyone mad, but boy I wish that I could be a weatherman. It is the only job that I know of that you can be wrong on a daily basis and still keep your job. I'm not talking about a few degrees in the air temp, but something like they predict that their is an 80% chance of rain and sure enough there is no rain. The have changed the forcast for this weekend that I think that they don't know what they are doing somedays. One hour they don't have any rain and the next they do. It's just frustrating on planning because I don't feel that they are very reliable as much as they used to be for some reason. That's just my opinoin. Sorry for stepping on anyones toes, and thanks for letting me vent:D Jared
  18. We'll I ended up calling in a bird for a buddy and then one for myself this past weekend. Here is a link to the short story and some pics http://www.realtree.com/forums/showthread.php?t=85324 Jared
  19. Congrats on the bird kyle. I know that you beat me but what did yours score again. Mine scored roughly 49. I wager you again about this weekend just for bragging rights though.
  20. I'll keep it short and sweet. At 7:20 despite no gobbling I was able to call in this bird for a friend of mine. He had 10 in beard and 1 in spurs. After eating some breakfast because it decided to rain, we headed out to some different ground 15 min away that I had permission to hunt. After screwing up the first set up I was able to call in this bird at 12:34. He had a 9.5 in beard, 1/2 in spurs and weighted 20 lbs.
