  1. Thanks everyone - this was a custom order and I made several aluminum mock-ups before I went for the real deal. The Tanto grind is a bear to get right with the angles as opposed to the curves on a conventional blade.
  2. Stepped out of my comfort zone yesterday and tried something new for me. First time making a "Tanto". This one out of 1084 and 15n20 Damascus with an overall length of 11.5 inches with a 6 inch blade. Black Linen Micarta handles. I think she turned out nicely.
  3. I said it before and I will say it again - I am Jealous ;-)

    MCH?

Anyone have an email for him? Haven't seen him on here in a week or so. Have sent him a couple of PMs but haven't heard back.
  5. Let me know if you decide to make that side trip to Gatlinburg, you will pass right by my house. Great trout fishing in the Gatlinburg area.
  6. Bet your mood brightened in a hurry - congratulations, she is definitely a keeper!
  7. I like the looks of that Bakflip - can you load on top of it? I thought about getting a ful capper but there are too many times I need access to the whole bed.
  8. I am looking for a Tonneau for my truck. I want a hard tonneau that is either retractable or folding. There are so many out there - any recommendations?

    HONK!!!!!!

Looks great Ben - when you coming back east for a visit?
  10. I was fortunate to meet and have dinner with Chris at last year's SHOT Show. This man would literally give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it. Another good one gone but will not be forgotten.
  11. Best of luck my friend - suffice it to say I AM JEALOUS!
  12. Outstanding! Congratulations!
  13. After further discussions with the individual who made the deal with me originally, it appears that I will at least be compensated for the cost of the materials. He was not happy at all with the way it went down and is not pleased at all with the direction the higher ups decided to go. According to him everyone on the committee was very excited at the prospect of getting something custom and useful for each of the employees who worked so hard to reach the safety milestone, instead they will be getting a plaque to hang in the breakroom with each employees name on it. I will PM those interested with the particulars on the knife I was going to make and will let you have them at the cost I quoted the company. Thanks everyone for your thoughts and support.
  14. Works for me - Lets do it! Why stop at New York - I say that all of the "people" in Washington need to see this in action. An excellent case in point is the recent sportsmans show that had to cancel due to pressure from the industry and individuals.
  15. I truly do not know what to think at this point. I was approached about doing a very large order (30+ knives) for a company who wanted to reward their employees for reaching a safety milestone. I gave them a rock bottom price per knife with Laser engraving included. I had a letter of agreement and intent but did not ask for a deposit. Everything was spelled out as to delivery schedule and so forth. I ordered the steel and handle material and set to work, only to receive a note from another individual within the company that they had decided to go in another direction. Its not that I won't use the materials eventually but this was a huge outlay for inventory that will take me a year or 2 to utilize at a time when the funds could have better been used to upgrade some equipment and now with no payoff in the near future on the investment. Sorry for the rant but I needed to vent. I guess even having it in writing doesn't matter anymore.

    New one

Chris named this pattern the "Deep Woods Hunter". Just finished this one, blade is 154CM with Green Canvas Micarta bolsters a red spacer and Desert Ironwood handles with brass pins. Overall length is 8.5 inches with a 3.75 inch blade. She is looking for a home if anyone is interested.
  17. [h=2]NSSF Statement on the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show[/h]January 24, 2013By nssfnews 2 inShare Email We have just learned that Reed Exhibitions has decided to postpone the 2013 Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show. In the days following Reed Exhibitions’ announcement that modern sporting rifles would be prohibited from the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show, the leadership of the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) has been in intense, frank discussions with Reed Exhibitions management in an effort to reverse this unacceptable decision. These discussions reached an impasse. NSSF is in no way affiliated with, nor does it participate in or exhibit at this show in any way. Reed Exhibitions does, however, manage the NSSF-owned SHOT Show (though Reed manages the SHOT Show, all SHOT Show decisions, policies and actions are made at NSSF’s direction). Because of Reed’s recent actions, NSSF is considering all options regarding the management of future SHOT Shows.
  18. Adjam5 - Reed runs the SHOT Show and they don't want to upset them.
  19. Anyone work at the Rockport Roll Shop of AK Steel?
  20. Glad you like her Luke - I hope she serves you well.
  21. Would like to see some snow for CHRISTmas but not likely. We usually don't get anything until late February or early March and then it will most likely be ice.
  22. Outstanding - congratulations!
  23. Richard sent me a new Deer Hunter stainless water bottle, a really nice hand painted glass ornament of a Pheasant Hunter and a great sign for my cave.
  24. I posted the original thread entitled "CHRISTmas Exchange". I did not delete it and do not know who did. There were many members that had signed up through that thread, if there is some way that an administrator can find that thread and add those members to the list and pair them up that would be great. I hate to see anyone willing to participate be left out.
