  3. ??----Did you apply for a point? CB
  4. Colorado elk results are posted at the DOW's website. I drew 1st rifle season either sex. CB
  5. Thanks-----info I was looking for. CB
  6. I've got a question on selling your house. I know the capital gains are tax free if you have lived there over 2 years. I've got that covered I've been in this house for over 10. My question is if it doesn't sell----Then you decided to rent it rather than let it sit empty. It then sells-----the capital gains are now taxable correct-----since it went into a rental. CB
  7. Conglads on the real nice black bear. Rule of thumb is a 6'er is a good bear anything over 6' is a REAL NICE bear. Are you get a rug made? CB
  8. I'm a member. I'm on the local banquet committee, have been for several years. This year we gave a couple of jakes hunts at the banquet. I took a 14 year old boy out on his 1st hunt. Showed him how to pattern his grandfather's Model 12. Let him learn to call on my Lynch 1 sider. We called in 4 gobblers----2 jakes & 2 longbeards. He shot one of the jakes @ 20 yards. He is from a single mom------the dad is long gone. Going to show him how to shot a rifle this summer. It's a good outfit. But like everything the more time you put in---the bigger the reward you get back. CB
  9. Silvertip-----I've drawn 2 ram tags over the years. I killed a 7/8 curl in 98 & a mtn goat in 2000. i'm just trying for another ram before I'm too old to climb. These mtns get steeper every year---LOL. CB
  10. Try it with a 2 3/4" turkey load. You got nothing to lose. Sometimes those old guns shoot a pretty tite pattern.
  11. No sheep tag for me-- got another weighted preference point. I have 3 points & 3 weighted points now. Maybe next year----at least I'll be getting a refund check. CB
  12. You got a pretty good deal IMO. $80 for a shotgun, is great. Full choke? If so it will be a great turkey gun. Pretty sure Western Field made them for Sears. CB
  13. Terriers are just FULL OF LIFE. They play hard. I've got part Jack & Red Heeler. She's 6 years old & still can out play a puppy. Love them Terriers. CB
  14. I use 2 box calls. One is the Lynch "fool-proof" one sider----easiest box call to use. The other is a Quaker Boy "Grand Old Master". Both have called in gobblers for me. CB
  15. Opening weekend for turkey here in Colorado.
  16. Does it have the thumb hole stock? Can a lefty use it? CB
  17. Probably one of the hardest hunts there is. They live in rough country. I think you would be better off hunting them in west Texas with an outfitter ----no draw for that hunt. CB
  18. Getting a bear during elk season is more chance than anything else. No one I know goes out specifically out for bear then. Usually a bear is getting away from some other hunter & bumps into your drainage. To go out for stickly bear---September is the month. They are in the scrub oaks fatting up on acorns. Hope that helps. What season are you hunting? 1st combined would be OK---- 2nd combined is a little to late IMO. CB
  19. We've got a single mom at work, she has a 14 year old who wants to go hunting. His Dad is a dead beat, so took him to the local NWTF banquet. He won the jakes's hunt for a guided weekend turkey hunt. Tonite I took him to the gun range so he could pattern his grandfather's Model 12. It's a full choke & shoots 2 3/4" shells. It patterns #6's at 40 yards pretty well-----as good as my 870----which kills them dead @40 yards. Going to use some old Activ 1 3/4 oz nickel plated turkey loads. Gave him my Lynch 1-sider "fool proof" box call to practice with. Showed him how to 'yelp'. I'm taking him out opening day-----told him to practice because he was going to call some. Big thrill to have a gobbling going off on the roost & then do some "soft yelps" & have him hammer back. I'll have him put it down & I'll take on the calling when the time comes. Gave him some camo gloves, head net, cap. Can't wait till 4/11------I'm having lots of fun with this. :) CB
  20. Dakota----It was a great banquet. Food was really good, 10 guns to auction, raffle or give away. We had 2 turkey hunts for Jakes & 1 turkey hunt for Ladies that were given away. The total money taken was a little off from the past but that's OK----we still were in the black. Had 115 at the banquet. CB
  21. Just got home to change clothes----I've been setting up for tonite's NWTF banquet. I'm on the committee. Looks good. Let you know how it goes tomorrow. CB
  22. Thanks, it's exactly what I needed. CB
  23. Does anyone have a website where i can download a turkey target. One that shows the kill zone. I'm taking out a young hunter & want to pattern his shotgun & show him how to shoot a turkey. Thanks-----CB
