  1. That oryx tag is a hard draw. I got mine back when there was a % set aside for NR. I drew on my 1st try. Most didn't like the $1200 price tag, I guess. The NM res started complaining so now everyone is lumped in to 1 pool. Anyway---better luck next year.
  2. Hit the delete button ASAP. They are a marketing rip-off. they send you stuff in the mail then expect you to pay for it. i send it back & a big "no thanks". Told them the next time i get unsolicted stuff---I'll keep it & throw the invoice in the trash. Worthless outfit IMO. CB
  3. Take a look at the moon tonite. It's spectacular---atleast here in Western Colorado. It's a crescent moon-----the bottom part of the moon & then just off one of the tips of the crescent is Venus. Really something. CB
  4. I've got one kind of like it. It's an Allen's----Stalker Yukon. Mossy Oak camo----with 4- 30/06 shell loops on it. Brand New-----$10 to your door via US Post. CB
  5. deadline for applications is in March---I think.
  6. Good luck---planning is half the fun. Lots of gas/oil drilling in 61-----so there will be alot of 4x4 roads thru out. Best piece of antelope hunting is "Don't shoot the 1st one you see". There are lots of them---look around. That's when a couple of doe tags helps. CB
  7. I would check out unit 61 in WY. North West of Rawlins. Lots of goats, lots of public land. You should be able to draw a buck tag & probably get a left over doe tag or two. Take your 17HMR for a prairie dog town.
  8. I would check out Unit 61 in WY for antelope. North West of Rawlins. Lots of public land & lot of goats. You should be able to draw a buck tag & probably get a couple left over doe tags. Take a 17HMR for a prairie dog town.
  9. My Dad had one. It's a carbine model-----real nice & lite. Plus it puts the hurt on whitetail. does it have the thumb safety? It's kind of funkie----The action is really strong. CB
  10. Just mailed mine SilverTip. Bighorn Sheep----3 points plus 2 weighted point. Moose----3 points plus 8 weighted points-----trying a muzzleloading tag this year. Elk----1st rifle season. I'll probably pass on antelope, deer & black bear. Good luck to all. CB
  11. Steve, I was hoping you would post. Just realize you were in Salt Lake. An antelope it's just plain fun & an a very do able DIY 1st time. Red----pm me & I've got a couple other places to check.
  12. Conglads on the brownie. I see you are from Kenai-----I've got a cabin on the other side of the river, Soldotna. Plan on taking the better half up there this summer for a little salmon fishing. Maybe we could get together for a cold one. There is a good hole for red's right next to the cabin or if the silvers are run-----got a boat----we could run the river. CB
  13. I got my Colorado bighorn sheep brochure in today's mail. Filling it out tonite & mail it back tomorrow. I've got enough points to draw----now if I just get lucky & have my application drawn. Good luck to all who apply but BETTER luck for me. TX---I decided to go back to the old method & mail it in. I had better luck on them over the online method. CB
  14. Yep, our fall season is September also. Better load up on those old doughnuts. Back when I was baiting----I would have a couple od doughnut shops save them for me. I loaded up the freezer, that way I had it when the season started. Most guys wait to the last minute & thgen it's a scramble to get stuff. CB
  15. Good luck on the bear hunt. Back when I was baiting----spring seemed to be a little easier but we had good luck in the fall also. Which month do you hunt hunt? CB
  16. Try the WY fish & game. Good place to start. I would call them in Cheyenne------I'm sure they have answered the question many times.
  17. For your 1st trip out west----I suggest an antelope hunt, DIY in WY. Lots of animals, lots of fun. Plus you'll get your feet wet on planning the hunt. It's the most affordable hunt also. Lots of public land. IMO--an elk hunt is the hardest DIY hunt---the high country is hard hunting, the animal is BIG & packing one out is WORK. CB
  18. How about a room for truck talk. 4x4's & hunting for together. Everyone likes to talk about their pickups. I've noticed threads in the lounge about car/truck several times. Just an idea. CB
  19. JJL----I think your right. On our side of the mountain----I've seen robins already, skunks are getting hit on the roads, the willows are turning yellow. Hope it's an early spring rther than a false one. CB
  20. Not me, it needs to come west of the Mississippi at least once. CB
