  1. Some deer have a 360 field of vision.
  2. I suppose they can if they like just like I can lie and enter one illegally I shot with a rifle. I don't think most at that level are concerned with p&y.
  3. http://www.northamericanwhitetail.com/2012/05/16/biggest-four-point-buck-ever/
  4. Don't know when your rut is, but I would say stick with food sources right now.
  5. I would find a local shop, not bps.
  6. If you're just dead set on something new, look at this: Whitney's Hunting Supply : Bear Encounter 60#, Right Hand Model - A25027326R I looked at several different sights, that's about the best deal I found, just transfer your sights and rest over and you'll have a shooter. Only other things you'll find in that price range is some older models like Hoyt Katera, Trykon, I can't remember the Mathews models that far back, but you will likely not find a switchback in that price range. Still lots of bows for any budget, but you're going to have to step back to about 4y/o models. Best advice is to find a shop and make friends with the tech.
  7. Excellent advice right there. I have purchased bows off the internet, but I had shot them and knew exactly what I wanted and ordered from a reputable archery shop. Also, I'm in the sticks and not tons of shops around here. If you do end up ordering something off ebay you should avoid off-brands, and in no way am I bashing AR bows, but they are going to be more difficult to find a dealer on should you have issues. Best bet is to follow the advice given above.
  8. +1 I LOVE the quartering away shot, prefer it to the broadside shot. First you are out of the deer's field of vision, ears pointed away, great shot on vitals too. I will not take a quartering to shot.
  9. I wouldn't. Its the start of the season, if your current set-up bothers you that much, check out a pro shop and look for a good trade-in that fits your budget. There's a good bow in every price range, just sold my old Fred Bear last year to a buddy for about that price, nothing wrong with it, just time for an upgrade. Folks flood the market with trade-ins this time of year, just find one you like, but I sure wouldn't switch right now.
  10. Also I can tell you from experience, it's really hard to get a draw on a deer at that distance. EVERY audible sound that comes from your clothing, release tightening, arrow dragging the rest, etc is greatly amplified. Do yourself a favor and let the deer move to about 20 steps away. That's the best yardage to me anyway 20-25 yards. Great effective killing range, while giving a little more sound cover.
  11. Yeah, that could be a fun thing, sorta like fantasy football, but need a lot more participation, plus time is just short this year. Think we'll end up with fewer and smaller teams, but I'm sure it will still be fun.
  12. Ditto. Mostly a news junky in the morning, rock in the afternoons, but on my way to the stand I'm usually thinking about other things with the radio off.
  13. Not many have a ten yard pin. Just set your target up at five yards and see for yourself what happens. If he's that close just pull one out of the quiver and stab him with it.
  14. Martin makes good equipment. Bows depreciate quickly, ESP when they weren't one of the premier bows for that year.
  15. Prob in that 30 sec range. Makes you appreciate the 80% let off. Another reason traditional bows are so challenging.
  16. Stinks Corey. I'm sure something is around. If there's food and water there should be deer.
  17. I think we had about eight teams of 11 members each, hope we get good participation again this year.

    Double the Moron

Actually its the enemy. I swiped it and you know how Android loves to make it's own suggestions for you. "Congrats" I believe was the word I intended!

    Numbers.

535 Just remember not to overthink this thing. In the same way I can study ballistics, barells, bullets, for months at a time, spend a fortune on a tack driving rifle and kill a deer at 100 yards, I could have also bought a 30 year old 30-06 and picked up a box of ammo at wally world and easily done the same thing. I see you're new at bowhunting, and by all means if you have and interest/passion for these things pursue it, there's good info above, but remember most of us bowhuters do not own a spin tester. Shoot quality arrows, heads, flex them, shoot them, pick out the better ones and you'll do fine.

    First class

You'll spend years wanting to be out of school, then spend years wishing you were back in! I do anyway!
  22. Don't sell yourself short, if you want to participate then sign up, as long as you commit to trying your team will be proud to have you. I tried last year and mustered nothing more than a doe, but had fun anyway.
  23. This place is going to the dogs no?
