  1. 10 or 11  only 3 or 4 I post to though unless I really need an answer to a question or am looking for a variety of input on something.
  2. Beautiful boat Leo- meet ya at the dock!:toot:
  3. Few years back I stuck a woodchuck about 60yds out in an open field with a dull stumpshooting broadhead tipped arrow. Got him a little far back behind the last rib and watched him make the mad dash back to his hole. The shaft had not passed through but stuck out on both sides. When I got to the hole I saw 2 hind legs and his butt sticking out. The arrow hung him up at the front door where he expired at ground level.:smoke:
  4. Was a tough season for a lot of fellow shed hunters Stones. Sure went from snow out till green up here quick. Congrats on your finds!
  5. Good story....sometimes the best plans take days, sometimes weeks to unfold the way they're supposed to. Some "Teds" are just meant to get under our skin another season. Good luck tagging your bulletproof gobbler.
  6. Well if anyone's interested in my golfball collection shoot me a PM with your mailing address and I'll get them out to ya. Many mixed brands....I don't golf, just gave me something to pick up when I wasn't finding antlers.
  7. Nice pics Shaun, looks like some great country to get lost for the day in.
  8. Have seen that kind of spring activity in the past around here too John. My guess is they're just pokin' fun at one another.
  9. Gotta agree with mike. I used to repair/refinish fiberglass units with gel coat and acrylic finishes. Lot more work and upkeep to it than some may lead you to believe if you expect it to stay looking good for any time. That work would come with a warranty too. A do it yourself kit may have you dragging that sucker back into the woods faster than you got it home a few dollars poorer. Good luck with it, a nice antique soaker can add an ellegant look to just about any bathroom with enough room for one.
  10. Great season mathews4life84. You had one heck of a year. Really enjoyed seeing your updates. Congrats on some great finds!
  11. Thanks guys. Green up sure came quick after the snow left. Not for 10 miles John.....I think the neighbor just likes to blast balls across the road to the cornfield. These all made it to the woods. I'm no rangefinder when it comes to long range estimation but I'd say close to 300 yds away!:jaw: Not bad for a country boy I'd say.
  12. By far..., the highlight of my season Ruth! Looking forward to getting my hands on his 2011 rack with him still attached!
  13. Well folks I'm officialy calling it a season. I had a blast this year! I'm dissapointed in the # of dead deer that wont be around for this coming fall but what can you do about it. Sure wish I could have picked up a few more sheds, especially some of the larger bucks I had cam pics of but all in all this season was another memmorable one to say the least. So here's my list of total finds for the year: Total antlers- 12 Busted racks- 2 Sheds- 10 Match sets- 3 Dead bucks- 13 Dead does/fawns- 8 Other skulls- 2 fox, 1 yote Leg hold trap- 1 Live trap- 1 (returned to owner) Golf balls- 63 Enjoyed following along with everyones hikes and finds. Good luck to all still sheddin' and congrats on all your great finds! We'll have to do this again next year huh.
  14. Yeah, but can it dig a hole....or is that something that comes when it sticks the landing...
  15. Down by 13 today Mike.
  16. Keep it up. Tough habit to kick. I know because I haven't.:smoke:

    How was it?

I find this site to be rather therapeutic to me compared to others out there I USED to visit. :chat:

    Poison Ivy

I've heard jewelweed but have yet to try it. Got the ivy pretty bad last year and just let it run its coarse and scab over. I'm half tempted to go play in it again this summer if I have some of the antidote near by to test out for myself. We've got quite a bit of it around here ( PI and jewelweed) and it's supposed to work well on a variety of bug bites as well. Might be a good test to start with there.
  19. To my surprise the blade is amazingly sharp in contrast to what I expected of it. Obviously you wouldn't use it to slice fresh tomatoes but if you needed to carve a big ol' chunk of raw flesh off something it would be up to the task no doubt. I can see these types of pieces becoming a great collection hobby around the home. Thanks for all the kind comments.
  20. Great gobbler, bonus beard, and one super story! That's what hunting these buggers is all about. Good luck tagging out Al.
  21. I just gave that a try but I may have ruined the experiment by putting a coat of wax on the shaft to show the missing splinter better in the pic. Couldn't get anything to stick to it any more. I would imagine that would be the hot ticket though.:toot: Great tip guys.
  22. Well that worked great(TP didn't). I used a dry baby wash mitt- I think it's some terry cloth material that snags on just about anything, especially hang nails and dry skin. I hate the feel of this fabric for that reason alone. but.... this may have been ok to shoot yet, but I feel better that I won't be tempted to take any chances. I marked the spot on the shaft about 5 inches from the tip and the slivers on the bag. Might be worth it to check your carbons this way from time to time just in case. I probably wouldn't have noticed it if the target wasn't new and I've only shot the same 3 arrows into it so far. Sure wouldn't have been as easy to part with a dozen arrows or more. Probably would have just kept playing roulette. Thanks for the advise.

    big shed

That's crazy...do you have a pic of the base of that monstrosity? Great find!
