  1. Re: hoyt or mathews Iowabowhunter16, welcome to the forums. Just in case you sign on the forums and this post isn't here. It is because is got out of hand, the Mathews vs. Hoyt thing is a very ugly situation. Everyone had got there opinions and some of the opinions aren't what you what to hear. My best advice to you is, go to a Pro Shop and shot bothof them, and then make your decision. I've shot both and I don't own either one. JMO Let's keep it clean folks.
  2. Re: How did your archery season go? My started out pretty darn bad! I reptured a disc in my lower back, three days before my bow season opened and then proceeded to miss the first two months of the season. Foour weeks after surgery, I was able to make my Ohio trip and take a small four point. I went hunting on the property I hunt here in NC and took a three point the weekend after I got back from Ohio. I feel very fortunate to have taken two deer with my bow, considering how my season started out and only hunting for 8 days (one week in OH, and 3 Saturdays here)this year.
  3. Re: how much are you guys paying for head mounts $400.00 & up
  4. Re: What kind of weight are you guys pulling? That's plaenty of draw weight for whitetails, most states are dropping the minimum to 35#'s. This is due to the faster, harder hitting bows. I'm pulling 65#'s and blasting through them.
  5. Re: slicktricks? My brother just went to them this past season and is very pleased with them. They are quit expensive, but I guess you get what you pay for. The ferral is one piece and solid steel. He took two deer this season with them, he made marginal hits on them, but they still did there job. I've got an 85 grain head he gave me to try out, but I'm sticking with my Muzzy's.
  6. Re: Scouting on topo maps... PA-they are great for hunting a new area as well as an area you've hunted before. 7441 is right for finding out the contours of the land and what to look for. That's correct you can't beat being in the woods, but it sure does give a good idea of where to start looking at. I've been using topo's for the last 4 years now and it's been so beneficial and saved a lot of walking the mountains.
  7. Re: your Broadheads [ QUOTE ] 3 blade 75 grain Muzzy [/ QUOTE ] Ditto!
  8. Re: Wal mart- clearance going down again They got the Ameristep climbers for $44.00, I saw one woman buying for of them. She said they sold out in Morganton, they had them for 25.00 each. Not a bad looking stand, just a tad bit heavy at 35#'s.
  9. Re: Tagged out.. I wish I could make it back up to Ohio, to fill my other two tags. Oh well, I guess it's money well spent towards the Ohio DNR. They got an extra 24.00 out of me again this year! LOL Congrats on taggin out!
  10. Re: My 2004 Muzzleloader Mount Very nice buck and mount! Congrats!
  11. Re: Scrubmasters...2005 Photos This is my last day 4 point in Ohio. This is a 3 point taken in NC the weekend after I got back from Ohio. Both were taken with a bow.
  12. Re: The first time I have ever got 2 deer in one year! Congrats on your first double!
  13. Re: Yet another Wisconsin Brute! I've got to make it to Wisconsin and hunt! Awesome buck!
  14. Re: MOSTER PA BUCK Holy cow! Or should I say holy deer! Very impressive.
  15. Re: Pet Peeve I was totally lost too, Doc! LOL I'm like, this has nothing to do with Pat Reeve! LMBOROF I thought VT knew something we didn't, that Pat Reeve was the only one who named bow's. LOL
  16. Re: ACC 349\'s They are Easton ACC's- A=alumninum C=carbon C=componant These shafts are over 100.00 brand new for a dozen, fletched or unfletched.
  17. Re: Son\'s first bow kill That's wonderful and congrats to him! My son's got a couple of more years before he'll pull back a legal weight bow. I can't wait. Keep up the great work! That's our future!
  18. Re: Dick\'s Sporting Goods 9point, it sounds like you do have experience with working on bows and that is great for that store you are working at. You are correct in the fact that Dicks is a chain store. I've got one close to the house here in NC and it'll be a cold day below ground before I get one of those guys to touch my bow. My opinion is if your going to have a hunting store, at least have people who know just a little bit more than most of it's customers. The same applies for ALL hunting/outdoors stores.
  19. The grain of broadhead determines more than just how the arrow will fly. It affects the FOC of your arrow, cutting diameter, tells if you over or under spined on your shaft, are a few more. Il. whitetails will go down from a 75 to 145 grain broadhead. It's just a matter of shot placement. You put any broadhead in the boiler room of a deer and it's going down.

    Stands

Re: Stands Two stands, but twenty different trees. The joy of hunting out of a API bowhunter, gets you mobile, agile, and hostile on the deer. LOL
  21. Re: My Newly Fletched Arrows The martians have landed! LOL J/K They turned out great, just get ready to start fletching everybodies arrows now. I must have fletched 20 dozen of them right after I learned how to do it. LOL Have fun with it.
  22. Re: help picking a new release A string release or most caliper type releases are compatible with those. Go to a Pro Shop that will let you try a display model and pick one out that will suit you.
  23. Re: Attention Muzzy Broadhead users. I shoot the 75's and have great results with them. Clean pass throughs and bone shattering results. Just a clue on the hole with the new four blades will leave. It'll be 1 1/8" in diameter with four small slices, in stead of three slices @ 1". I think they are just trying to compete with the slicktricks.
  24. Re: keystone? I've odered several things from them and never had that problem. I know if you forget a number or digit, it'll take you back to another page. Maybe this is what you've done.
  25. Re: Wife\'s 1st Bow Buck Very cool and tell her congratulations! Awesome deer!
