Re: FIRST BOW KILL!!!! Congrats on your first one with a bow. I know it's an awesome moment for you. I'll never forget the first one I took with a bow. That's great you stuck with it afer 7 years of trying, most people would have given up. It took me my 3rd season of bowhunting to take one. Great job Buddy! Best of luck to you on furture seasons.

Re: easton a/c/c\'s I shot 349's in the ACC's for a few years in tourney's and hunting. I loved the way they performed and was pleased somewhat with the durability with them. I've had them bend, break, shatter, and do most of what any other arrow will do be it graphite or aluminum in any given situation. I just didn't enjoy buying a new half dozen or full dozen arrows, they are very pricey and my wallet just can't support them. I know shoot Goltips and totally have satisfaction with them in price and durability. If your stuck on spending a "C" note get some ACC's. Try the new Maxima's, they are also $100.00 for an all graphite shaft. Good luck on your choice.

Re: Lungbusters Congrats on a nice one. That not just 7 more points, that 12 more points. Good job guys, I'll be heading out again next week when all of the family is gone after Thanksgiving. I hope everyone had a great one!

Re: Lungbusters Hey dogdoc, way to go, buddy! That's a nice one. If we can get need2hunt to update the scores these deer we've got should move us right on up the ranks. Congratulations everyone! Keep up the great hunting and be safe out there. I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!

Re: Lungbusters I'm still waiting for need2hunt to post mine for some points for us. Congrats on a beautiful buck, generallee!

Re: \"VERY\" loud grunt last night I've heard this in Ohio last year. I could have swore that a hunter going bad wrong on a grunt tube was near me. Turned out to be a bruiser of a buck. Heard it again this year. Those are the dominant bucks and are making every other deer know they are in the area.

Re: TEAM 17 I got another one yesterday, but it's a three point. So, that didn't help any onthe score, but it helped my bow kills for the season. LOL It was an awesome hunt, I thought I was going to score on 2 bucks, but the other one was in to thick of cover to make a shot. It was cool they both came in looking for the hot doe scent I had put out. Shot the first one at 8 yards, he went about 35 yards and stopped. He didn't know what hit him. He started doing the stiff legged walk for about 5 feet and rolled and flopped like a fish on a hot pier. LOL The other buck thought he scored on a doe and came running to investigate. I was so pumped about the possiblity of taking two bucks within second with my bow. He just didn't give the opertunity. The bummer of it is, I had the second one at 20 yards for a good 45 seconds and just couldn't squeeze an arrow through there. Oh well, what a great late day of archery season! Good luck guys and let's get them deer.

Re: TEAM 17 Well, I scored in Ohio. It wasn't a monster but it's a buck. I got a 4 point on the last day of our hunt. It was the nineth different buck I saw out of my stand. I trophy hunt for the first four days of my hunt and anything that comes by on Friday, get aired out.LOL Anyway, it puts more points on the board and I get some picture posted. I didn't get any good out in the field or with me and the deer. I do have my liscense, tag, and the rack witht he band on it. Good luck to all of you.

Well think they are in chase mode now in Ohio.
Straight Shooter replied to axman's topic in Bowhunting
Re: Well think they are in chase mode now in Ohio. Just try and keep the bucks calm, until this Sunday. LOL I'll be up there and hopefully playing some string music. -
Re: Polar tech question? I use polar tech, but not from Red Head. I've got a jacket and bibs in the expedition weight. I use it up north in Ohio and this stuff is truley warm. Don't do a lot of walking in the expedition or you'll be soaked. I don't think you'll be let down with either of your purchases. Good luck on your hunt.

The Mathews scored on Saturday Morning (pic).
Straight Shooter replied to njbowhntr's topic in Bowhunting
Re: The Mathews scored on Saturday Morning (pic). I saw the rack first and then the most excellent shot placement. That is texted book, dude! Congratulations on a great buck! -
Re: HE MADE IT! Dude, I must be blind or something. I only see a very dark picture with two glowing eye and the ears. It looks like a poachers dream. LOL j/k How many picutres are posted?

Re: Which Camo? I like that camo alot better than the Mossy Oak. I should have waited on the Max-4 to come out. Dang it man! LOL
-
Re: Which Camo? I've got an Ameri-step in the Mossy Oak Breakup Green, I don't think the camo is that big of an issue. Just make sure you blend the blind in, very well. Place it back under a hemlock or cedar, and with the limbs you've cut off. Lay them on the top of the blind and down the sides. Deer are very wary of new things in their enviroment and something the size of a blind is a desaster if proper precautions aren't taken. Good luck.

First Buck Of The Season and an AWSOME HUNT!!!!!!!
Straight Shooter replied to bowhunt101's topic in Deer Hunting
Re: First Buck Of The Season and an AWSOME HUNT!!!!!!! He might as well consider hisself with a final warning. Degrading commments like that will not be tolerated. Bowhunt101- Congratulations on a fantastic buck and an awesome story of the hunt to go with it. -
Re: TEAM 17 Great job on the kills guys! I've got one week from today before I can get into the woods. You guys keep up the great work and I hope I can bring back some more help on this contest. The weather is looking pretty good for the week I'm in Ohio, I just hope it doesn't warm up to much to shut the buck movement down.

Even if you wear a safety harness..............
Straight Shooter replied to dg's topic in Bowhunting
Re: Even if you wear a safety harness.............. I guess I forgot that part! LOL With the aid of a 30' rope, two orange vest, a gun sling, all tied together and my buddy jumping off the bottom platform about 8' up off the ground. I was able to get my platform back. Also, I might add with stupidity before the big safety issues came up. I had no type of safety harness on. I count my blessings everyday since that day. -
Re: Parallel Limb Shooters? I wasn't sure if all or some of the P.L. bows had a stationary roller guide or not. I appreciate the answers on this, and once again I'm not making any heat over anyone particular bow. Chrud did answer what I was talking about and it was the Switchback. It seems that every site I've gone to, this has been a hot topic on the SB. I'm just wondering now, if it's due to the stationary roller guide. In my opinion, it just doesn't give the string/harness any forgiveness on the release. Granted, everyone that has got a SB, is very impressed with the performance of the bow and it's shooting. It's just something I've pondered over for a couple of weeks now. Thanks guys.

I'm just curious about this type of bow. This is not a brand only question, it's about any of the bows that have parallel limbs. There's a second factor in this as well. The stationary roller guide. My question is, do all of these bows have a problem with a critical ATA measurement? My brother has got a parallel limb bow and it's grouping goes all over the place if the ATA goes out more than 1/8 of inch. After having back surgery, I've plenty of time to ponder over this. It just seems to me, that with this stationary roller guide and the flat limbs. It puts so much more stress on the string and harness. Verses the flexable cable off-set bar and allowing the string to slide back and forth on the bar. I don't ever recall hearing of a bow before the parallel limbs came out, of being so critical to string stretch and maintaining the ATA. I know all bows have this and it's common practice for this. I'm not trying to start a parallel limb to reflex, straight limb war. I'm just curious if all the makes are having this problem, AR, Bow-tec, Mathews, etc..

Re: Nock install They still make arrows without uni-bushings? LOL j/k dg's, got it right. But, are you putting the nocks on a fletched arrow or unfletched. If it's fletched, do like he said and line it up the way you need it. The fletch-tite glue will give you ample time to adjust it. If it's an unfletched arrow, just stick the nock on firmly, until the arrow is fletched. Then glue the nock on afterwards.

Even if you wear a safety harness..............
Straight Shooter replied to dg's topic in Bowhunting
Re: Even if you wear a safety harness.............. I learned that lesson about 15 years ago. I was about 50 feet up (rifle hunting) a poplar tree and shifted a little bit and then it happened. That sucker went all the way down to the bottom. I had two and a half hours to think about what I should have done, to prevent this. LOL Now, any two piece stand I have, has got both halves tied together. -
Re: Grouping broadheads = ruined fletching No offense, but it's archers like you who keep Pro Shops in business. LMAO Sounds like you've got your bow shooting well, but like it's been stated. Shoot at a different spot each time or shoot one arrow then remove it. Better yet, buy you a fletching jig, with as many fletchings as you are ruining, you'll get a bunch of practice and be a pro at it in no time. LOL

Re: Finally got one, then two! Your the man, dg! Congrats on some fine deer! I hope to see you on the courses next year. Congratulations again!

Re: arrow speed..... Average speed gainedor lost is 2-3 fps for every 10 grains added or taken away. That might help or hurt your groups by changing the weight. It was the best move I made when I went from 100's to 75's in the Muzzy's, but it only made a difference of 5 fps. If your not getting consistant groups with your broadheads, then try a lighter head, that might be your solution. If your getting great groups, I'd leave it alone, just as "dg" said.
