Re: Here\'s a good one, sighting question I believe what your asking is if you sight inyou bow at another location at 30 yards and you shoot back at your house with your limited diestance can you still rely on the arrow hitting just above your bullseye at 20 yards. Yes, it'll be just fine, it'll just hit high like you said, it's no different thatn having a 40 yard pin and holding it on the bullseye at 30 yards. But, Doc pointed out that changing anything can and will will change the point of impacts, unless it's going from field tips to mechancial heads. But I'd still check that out just in case.

Re: Mathews Ammo... Response time and service is what makes the bow company, it's continuous probelms and malfunctions that kills one. A limb problem every now and then is not ammo by no means.

Re: Muzzy Moments? Man, I could fill this post up with several Muzzy moments. I've taken my P&Y with a 75 grain Muzzy, blasted through both shoulders on deer, hammered an armadillo in Alabama, coconut shots on groundhogs on video with Muzzy's. I've been shooting them for 14 years now and nothing will ever take the place of them. I do shoot other heads from time to time but nothing else goes into the woods with me on deer hunts.

Switched to a new string, but have a problem!!!!
Straight Shooter replied to rossman's topic in Bowhunting
Re: Switched to a new string, but have a problem!!!! That is what I was going to mention, your serving might be tighter and causing your nocks to bite a little hard on the serving. Give it time and the serving will wear or conform to the nocks after a few shots. -
Treestand Harnesses and guys who don't have one
Straight Shooter replied to AdvantageTimberLou's topic in Bowhunting
Re: Treestand Harnesses and guys who don\'t have one I've given several of them away and just come across another one from the last API stand I bought. My nieghbor has also got another one mine that came with an Ole man stand I got last year. I use the Transformer, so if any of you need one let me know. I'll fix you up for a good price of just shipping. No profit on my part and except for possibly saving someone's life on here. I think everyone profit's from that. Good luck to all of you and be safe! -
Re: Vanes Question??? Either will be fine and they both perform great! Just go with what you think will serve you best. Personally I like the blazer, but that is just me.

Re: Got the Muzzy\'s!!!! They cause any deer to buy a parking ticket somewhere! LOL I've used them for 14 years now.

Re: Your Chosen Broadhead? My sig says it all! LOL Mine are 75 three blade though.

Re: Non Oklahoma Bowhunters..... I have to agree with these guys,I don't understand the delima of the shortness? A cutting diamter is a cutting diameter, it doesn't matter how long the ferral is, Take a look at the guillatine's, those ferrals can't be more that 1/2 or 5/8" long but have a 4" cutting diamter. I know they are for turkeys but dang the ferral don't kill the birds, it's the cutting diamter. I'll try and help you out also if I can.

Re: Blazer and helical? Let me give you a little insight about these fletchings not sticking to good on the shafts. A lot of this due to the clamp leaning forward because of the fletchings being shorter and lower profile at the base of the fletching. I take another blazer and tape inside the clamp at the opposite end. This allows the clamp to rest level at both ends and allows the fletching to maintain full contact with the shaft while the glue is drying. Doesn't have anything to do with more curing time or how long you leave the clamp on.

Re: eliminator buttons You've got to have a bow press to take the string off of the cam and then slide the buttons up the string. It's always a good idea to have about five or six put on. When the one your shooting wears out, just slide another up the string in it's place. The extra one's don't get in the way or hurt your speed any.

Re: Blazers They work great, just prepare them like any other fletching and it perform great for you. I shoot through a WB with mine and have no problem with them.

Re: Facemask or No Facemask? No face mask, but a face net! I feel naked with out it in the woods.

Re: Question on fletching That's fine to go by, but forget and inch is as good as a mile. Fletchings are set forward alittle because of the balance, clearance or the rest, and stablization of the shaft. A good setting is about 1" in front of where the nock meets the shaft, if you shoot a hard helical, it could be turning before it clears the arrow rest. If you shoot a drop away that's no problem.

Re: Another One Bites the SB Challenge!!! Oh the all mighty Mathews hits again! LOL They've got a bgood bow, but not good enough for me. LOL Try this one on, my brother won a Martin Slayer Extreme on AT and didn't like it, so I ended up with it. I'm a die hard CSS fan, but I have never had a bow like this one in my hands. I've got witnesses and I wouldn't believe it if I didn't shoot it. I can take a 75 grain Muzzy, 85 grain field tip, 100 grain glue in, Magnus Stinger 100 grain, and a 100 grain Tekan II, all put ACC 349's and put all of them into the bulleye's out to 40 yards. No left or right stuff betwen fixed blade, field tip, or mechanical heads. It's truely unreal but it's been done with this bow. i don't know if it's the Dyna cam or what, but I'll not get rid of this bow. Just something for the Mathews shooters to think about. LOL Oh yeah, I've shot one and still done own one.

NOW its time for the countdown to BEGIN!

Re: NOW its time for the countdown to BEGIN! September 9th and I'm gone for 9 days on a bow hut on 4,00 acres here in NC. Good luck to all and to all of you a clean fast kill!!!!! -
Re: Here\'s a good question Both, I do take my time bowhunting, but take my son gun hunting. I can't wait until he's old enough to bowhunt.

Re: What\'s considered \"in Specs\"? Twist your strings, they aren't worn, just strechted. It's common with any bow, but seems to be more critical of the Outbacks. My brother has two of them and he has had to do this a couple of times all ready with his older one.

How many deer have you harvested with your bow?
Straight Shooter replied to BIG_BUCK_1's topic in Bowhunting
Re: How many deer have you harvested with your bow? I've taken 19 deer with my bow since the 1994 season. 6 bucks one of which is P&Y, and 13 slick heads. -
Re: New to Archery TX66, welcome to the forums and to the most addictive sport there is,"Bowhunting". I've ben doing this for 13 years now, either with a cheap or expensive bow, bowhunting is a toal rush. Personally, I'd recommend geting a center of the road bow. You don't want to go to cheap that you have to struggle to shoot it accurately. on the other end, the higher road bows aren't as forgiving and very criticla to shoot and just starting out you don't want to create any bad habits on your shooting. Just make sure you go to a PRO shop, not an over the counter store that says they do bow work. A Pro shop will work with you on your draw length and the proper bow set-up for you. The boardhead question you asked will always be a matter of opinion and trial/error for you to try out. I shoot cut on impact heads. I've never had a problem with tuning my fixed blades, so I've never hunted deer with mechanicals. I have however seen and witnessed the use of mechanicals. Any good sharp broadhead will do exactly what you want it to do, if you can put the arrow were it needs to go. Feel free to ask as many questions as you can, because the more help you can get just starting out will help you and the animal greatly. Good luck to you!
