Re: how can i make such a stupid mistake. Wind is a very fickle thing Tony, I got busted so many times in Ohio last week it was pitiful. We live and learn on every season, just don't kick yourself to bad.

Re: Girlfriends first buck Great buck and tell her congrats! Welcome to the forums as well. Just by the pictures and this is a guess but I'd say that buck will go around the upper 120's to lower 130's on score.

Re: To be honest Its kinda sickening!!! Just like bling bling sells jewelry and cars, big bucks sells clothing, video's and equipment. Their wives and children have killed bigger deer than I have, are the gretest hunters. No, they just have better and more oppertunities than I do to hunt big deer. You've opened a can of worms with that statement and it's the wrong site do it on or any site. Sure we've got some hunters in the business that have given it a bad name, but the guys at RT, Primos, Easton Outdoors, The wild outdoors, Gettin' Close, Spirit of the Wild, etc. are all great hunters in my eyes. They do so much for us and in the bowhunting world. Some of their great hunting must have rubbed off on you to want to go to Montana and hunt where they did?

Re: Woohoo! What an archery season! congrats TG! I'm glad for you and a great season.

Re: anybody shoot a CSS I've got two of the Challengers and love them. I just took two more deer with my hunting one this past week in Ohio. I've got one set-up for tounrey's at 57#'s and my hunting is on 65#'s. Both are 1999 models and still shootin great. I keep the bushings and strings replaced on them. If you want proof, I'm holding my bow with the buck I killed in Ohio in the deer contest entry forum.

Re: 10yd or less shots I hear ya turkeygirl and that's fine and dandy. LOL GW, I'm sorry for not getting back to this topic earlier, but work and homework with the kids, delivering cubscouts popcorn got me tied up for a little bit. I don't doubt you know what you talking about, and DANBO it would look better on paper to an engineer, I know I work with them everyday and ya'll's motto is, if it's done on paper it must be truth. GW, The only thing I'm stating is that a faster bow will have less trajectory than a slower bow, I know gravity is a constant, and the world turns fast. LOL The original question was were should I aim at 10 yards and bottom line is it all depends on how fast of a bow this guy is shooting. I don't want to ruffle any feather except "engineers". LOL

Re: 10yd or less shots It's not gravity we are talking about, it's arch in the arrow flight or trajectory. Let me make this easier for you GW. Faster is flatter and slower is rising higher because your pin is in a higher position because of the slower speed. There for you'll need to aim lower on your target with a slower shooting bow. From an elevated or from flat ground.
-
Re: 10yd or less shots First off don't climb n to of your house. Get into one of your stands and shoot from there. It's not safe and te roof is not level for your feet, you shoot from a flat platform from your stand. About where to hold or aim is totally up to your bows speed. A bow shooting around 270 and up will hit pretty much dead on from an elevated position. Slower bows in general will hit a touch higher from and elevated position, a bow shooting around 260 or lower will hit higher because of having a higher arch in it's flight to it's target. The best advice I can give you is to practice from an elevated platform or your treestand itself and do wear your safety harness when off the ground. By the way, my two hunting bows are shooing 282 and 287 fps and they hit exactly where I aim or hold on a deer or target.

Tired, Frustrated & Looking forward to GUN season!
Straight Shooter replied to ladydiehard's topic in Bowhunting
Re: Tired, Frustrated & Looking forward to GUN sea No one said bowhunting was easy! Don't beat yourself to death over it, just keep learning from your mistakes and i'll all pay off. Sometimes you just need to take a breather from it and you'll get that during firearms season. -
Re: Big Doe Down! Great Doe gregg! I like the Flops too! It's good to see I'm not the only one to wear them during hunting season. LOL Congrats!

Re: Heard the Snort Wheeze Tonight I heard everything but that last week on my hunt. I did use it on a couple of lesser bucks, and got a "I've had my butt kicked and want nothing to with that" reaction.

Re: Rut Question [ QUOTE ] using doe scent wafers in the dryer with my camo's [/ QUOTE ] Don't do that wafers in the dryer, the rest of your clothes will smell like doe in heat. Go in as scent free as possible then hang the wafers out around your stand location in areas you think youmight get a shot on a buck. If he's smelling one of those then he's not looking in your direction.

Re: OHIO...is where its at folks!!!!! Not the wrong county, just the wrong state. I've hunted there for six years now and just killed a couple of does. To many hunters and not enough trees. I've found a place in Morgan County, Ill. for $1,000.00 for a seven day hunt I think I'll do that.

Re: Team 20 Thanks NJ, he came in at 112 2/8" green gross. I'll take him. LOL

Re: Team 20 Congrats NJ on the Doe! I got my pic's posted, so that's more points for us. Good luck everyone!

Re: OHIO...is where its at folks!!!!! I just got back from Ohio on a week hunt and liscenses aren't cheap, tags are a separate cost and the deer are few and far between. The ones we saw are to little to shoot. From what I hear, it's Kentucky that's the place to be, it one of the best sleeper states on deer hunting and good quality bucks.

Re: Team 20 Just got back today from Ohio and an awesome week of hunting, the bucks were totally running Does and it was a mad house in the woods. I got a nice 8 point (110-115ish inches) on the last hour of the last day of our hunt. I also got another Doe, but I've all ready got points for that one. I'll post the pictures tomorrow, I got family time to make up and lost of things to unpack.

Re: My first buck Awesome! That is a great first buck kill! Congratulations!

Re: Got one, but w/ bad news.... Just keep looking for him, he should be down within a couplehundred yards. They bleed enternally to start, just look waist high on the trees, he should be blowing blood out within 50 yards or so. I've hit a couple of deer that way, (but had a full pass through) and didn't start bleeding right away. Best of luck to you on finding him.
