  1. Re: Help please It's good to hear you've come over from the dark side! LMBO J/K Congrats on getting a bow and I know you'll love it. First make sure it is tuned properly and getting good arrow flight. Joining a archery club is a great move on your part. Shoot with experienced shooters and they'll help you the most on your shooting form. The worst thing you can do is create bad shooting habits and not know it. Those guys will help you. Don't get discourage on your groupings, that'll come with more shooting. Just concentrate on your shooting form to begin with.
  2. Re: blazer vanes Good luck on getting a lot of helical outof them. These vanes are so stiff because of the thickness of them, it's hard to put alot of helical in them. They do work great and are very durable vanes. I couldn't tell you if they will hit with your fieldtips or not. That'll be up to the bow and how well it is tuned. The 2" vanes are supposed to weigh as much as 4" vanes.
  3. I've got 10 ACC 349's @ 27 inches long. Straight 4" fletchings, six are brand new, four have been shot. Still in excellent shape. $50.00 for the ten of them.
  4. Re: Time to start making arrows!!!! PA-run a bead of glue about the width of the base of the fletching. That'll give you ample enough glue to hold it on. don't worry about the excess that comes out the sides, it'll dry and shrink. Be sure and clean the shafts in the area for the fletchings, with alcohol before putting the fletchings on. I also use some 400 grit sand paper to rough up the surface some for a better grip with the glue. Then clean that with alcohol.
  5. Re: arrows and broad heads. Goldtip Hunter XT's 5575 tipped with a 75 grain Muzzy. They fly great and get just as great penetration. I've used them for the last 4 years now, no complaints.
  6. Re: GOT ONE....I think Congrats!
  7. Re: first time goin out by myself... If your scared of a cat getting you, wear a mask on the back of your head. It looks like a face. Cats won't attack face on. You might look goofy walking in the woods, but it seems to work for the folks in India against the tigers. LOL Bears, play dead and hope for the best. LOL Pigs, use the swing out method. LOL Skenks, run the other way LMBO> As for just being scared of the dark and strange sounds in the woods, just keep going and it get easier each time.
  8. Re: 2006 Competition scores Great shooting Tony! I've been slinging a few arrows lately, getting ready for the outdoor tourney's to start. Our first one will be in a couple of weeks. Can't wait to get going on those. Good luck to all of you this year.
  9. Re: Capitol One Commercial With a Crossbow I love it and laughed like crazy when he bolted that reindeer in the shoulder. LMBO I bet the anti's went crazy though. It's after dark, he's in a car, and shooting an animal out of season. LOL I wonder if that's any more reinforcement that a crossbow is more like a gun. You can't do that in a car with a bow. LOL J/K crossbow hunters, not trying to start a war here, just little humor.
  10. Re: real vanes??? The only problem you should have with vanes in a whisker biscuit, is if your arrow is not lined up and squared. You'll get fletchings/vane wear. Blazer vanes are great for shooting through a WB, also.
  11. Re: question for all you bowhunters? Martin has come out with some great bows over the years and I've shot a couple of them. I don't have any complaints about Martin, they are a very reputable company with a great poster girl! LOL Seriously, I think you'll be very pleased with that bow.

    ACCIDENT

Re: ACCIDENT Best wishes, prayers, and a speedy recovery for your buddy.
  13. Re: Quickest bow hunt? I've had a couple of hunts that only lasted about 5 to 10 minutes after daylight. It's fun and exciting to kill quick and to have a successful hunt.
  14. Re: 1st bow buck+pic Congratulations! Very nice buck.
  15. Re: MY 2 ILL BUCKS!! Dude, what a year you had. That is awesome and congratulations to you!
  16. Re: Arrow building questions !. If you don't have acces to a marked arrow in lengths of inches. Have a buddy stand beside you, while your at full draw. With a marker, have them place a mark about 1/2" to 3/4" past your arrow rest. Make sure your buddy is in a safe position and your have the arrow point in a safe position, should it accidentally go off. 2. Fletchings are pretty much you choice. Most common fletching lengths are 4" to 5" fletchings. Some shooters shoot even shorter legnths. Like I said, it's mostly up to the shooter and which ones preform best for your set up. 3. The best glue I've used, has been the glue by fletch-tite. It's in a white tube with red writing on it. Some Fletchings will tell you on the package which would be recommended for there fletchings. Bonning vanes will recommend Bonning glue, etc. Inserts are determined by which arrow you shoot, outserts, inserts, HIT's, and what ever else is coming out on the market in 2006.
  17. Re: sighting in a new bow Vt hit it with the sights. Did the bow come with a rest on it or did you put in on yourself? Regardless, you need to check for arrow flight, having your sights set to yardage. Will not do you any good on arrow flight. Take the bow to a Pro Shop and have them make sure everything is good and square. Good luck with your new bow and best of luck to you breaking it in on a deer.
  18. Re: Wearing a coat and bow hunting I use very heavy coats in cold weather and that brownish colored sock (EZ arm guard) allowed me to take a deer this season without worry of hitting my sleeve.
  19. Re: Having an arrow nocked. In the stand, all ways. Walking sometimes, it depends on how far I'm wlaking and what I'm walking through. It's just not as easy carrying a loaded bow as a loaded gun. LOL
  20. Re: Lungbusters Oops! Oh well, 7 points is better than none. LOL My bad! I went this past weekend with the bow and fought the wind and not seeing any deer. Our last week of deer season is this week. I'll give it one more shot to see if I can get any more points. Good luck and stay safe folks.
  21. Re: What kind of... Scott is top on my list. I've got two of them and have no complaint's what so ever.
  22. Re: what broadheads you all use Muzzy 75's
  23. Re: Who builds their own arrows? I have for the last 5 years and it saves bunches of money. Mick, that would be the whole purpose of fletching your own arrows, for the cost savings. Pro Shop just love to have guys like you, you are their mney maker. LOL On average it cost 1.75 per arrow to have one fletched. For the cost of 4 arrows fletched, I can buy 100 fletchings and fletch up 33 arrows. You all do the math.
  24. Re: Do you play with your.... I'm guilty of that also, and totally glad I do that. I had a release get something spilled on it somehow before my next morning hunt in Ohio. I was sitting in the stand and started my open/close sessions with the release and I was amazed when it didn't click open. Good thing I carried a back up and nothing came out before I found this out.
