  1. Re: Happy Resurrection Sunday! And to you also Harv! Too many people don't know, or forget what the real meaning of this sunday is about! Easter is just a name someone came up with, not even really related to Resurrection Sunday, but we all call it Easter anyway. One cannot imagine what it would be like now had Christ not died for us....
  2. Re: How would your feel? One of my rec. professors told me about one time he applied for a job at ike a national park...they told him he was overqualified for the job....I guess because of his degree and he had all this training and certifications and what not. Geesh...I'd rather have an overqualified person working with my kid then an underqualified one, lol.
  3. Re: Double Bull Matrix. A neighbor had one....I think they are expensive...but they do work well and blend in nicely. His though when he pulled it ouf of the box, it was missing a clip on one of the straps...he returned it after deer season and got his money back. I wish I'd had a video when he and Andy first tried to set it up...they didn't read the instructions....2 guys underneath a tend trying to unfold it...lmbo!
  4. Re: New 4-wheeler colour Green for me....just because if I'm out in the woods...less of a chance of people finding it and messing around with it if so inclined...Isn't Can-Am the new name for an ATV company?
  5. Re: TURKEY TEAM #7 Hope you are having some luck Dwin! This week is suppose to warm up so I'm hoping to get out and scout some..ok alot! lol Then not this coming weekend but the next is the youth hunt weekend...I hope it doesn't mess up any scouting I do on state land...I don't think anyone will be hunting the private land here at home...with 1 gobbler and a few hens...he's one tough bird to get. Hey Joe....any idea what the birds do after the youth hunt? I know youh ave your own land to hunt but I'm just wondering if they are going to get really pressured that weekend or not..?
  6. Re: How would your feel? Wow...sorry Wigs! Go figure....maybe it's good you didn't get the job because maybe working for them wouldn't be too great... Kinda like when I applied for a job my freshman year at college, I have the interview, then a few weeks later I get a letter in the mail saying I'm "not qualified enough" which is baloney because the job involved some custodial work, and various other tasks over the summer on campus when they had alot of groups in. Now I'm a sub custodial supervisor at the college while I wait for a better job. The lady who didn't hire me freshman year...I bet she feels like a jerk with my walking around working for the custodial department. Hang in there...I'm sure God has other plans for you. It'll all work out.
  7. Re: 2007 Illinois youth hunt Congrats to you and your son! Great job!

    two weeks!!

Re: two weeks!! That is awesome. Way to go and keep it up! You might put on a few pounds, but for the health benefits, it's worth it. Your sense of smell and taste will improve! I heard on the news the other day that about 90% of smokers will get lung cancer:-( We sure wish Andy would quit but he's quit and then started again so many times....
  9. Re: Easter weekend plans? Staying at home basically....
  10. Re: How many of you... The Realtree one is the only one I bought...my only wrist band of that sort anyway, lol. Those types of wrist bands though are everywhere with anything and everything on them
  11. Re: NY/PA hunters.... Wow, that had to be heart pumping and make you really wish it was turkey season!

    Winters back

Re: Winters back Ugh, don't remind me. I had plan to be scouting hard this month for turkey season, and with working, I don't have much time, now this stinking weather.....
  13. of Realtree camo? I have a feeling I'm really going to like the AP HD...it looks perfect for the type of woods I hunt during archery seasons, as the leaves are falling and alot of the trees are light barked. I like Hardwoods also...but I think AP/APG is going to be my fav.
  14. Re: Cold weather gobblers Usually cold shuts them down a bit...won't hear much gobbling if any...try and get near their roosting area if you can or some place they frequent like a field or what not. Good luck!
  15. Re: NY/PA hunters.... [ QUOTE ] I believe that the gobblers would be even more henned up if our season opened a week or two earlier. Usually, by the middle of May they start to get real lonely and vulnerable once the hens start spending most of their time nesting. Unforunately, its pretty darn tough to tag a nice longbeard at this point of the season with all of the hunting pressure that they face in this area. Most of the "dumb" birds are already in someones freezer. You can still kill one but you gotta really put some serious time and effort in to do so. The good thing about hunting later on in the season is that just about everone has thrown in the towel and called it quits. Currently, the large winter flocks seem to be starting to break up...the gobblers are with hens and the jakes are hanging out in their little outcast bachelor groups. I saw four longbeards strutting with about 30 hens yest. morning. One of them breed a hen while I was watching which kinda surprised me. Today, there were 26 birds out in the cornfield behind the house. I got to watch an awesome fight between 3 longbeards and 4 HUGE jakes. The whole thing last for about a minute...they were all doing the "fighting purr" and the legs, spurs and wings were just a' flyng. Surprisingly, the jakes came out on top and ended up chasing the bigger gobblers away from the hens. It was one of the best turkey fights that I've ever seen... ! [/ QUOTE ] That is sooo COOL! When I was fall turkey hunting several years back, when there was still a good population of turkeys on the land, a bunch started fighting...all I heard were gobbles and the purra and it sounded like the turkey version of a war, lol. Neat stuff
  16. So I was wondering...since our seasons start kinda late compared to other places, ours being May 1, what are the gobblers doing by then or what stage are they in? To me, it seems like by the time May 1 comes around, gobblers are henned up and we miss out on the hotter action earlier. Or is this just my thought? Let's hear your thoughts. I think knowing what the gobblers are doing by May will help me know how to set-up and such.
  17. Re: Is this running slow ....... I think it's running slow also...
  18. back when Hurrican Katrina caused all the damage, remember Realtree sold wrist bands for support? Who still has there's and wears it? I still have mine..always forget to wear it though.
  19. Re: Blantons Blog Comments LOL! I found it great! I'll be looking forward to reading David's blog!
  20. Just finished my order to Cabela's....an insulated bowhunter's jacket in RT aP and an H.S. SUV vest in RT APG Only thing is jacket is on backorder...they said 7-8 weeks I hope it's faster than that. and the vest is on backorder also but that said 0-1 week. anyone know how long backorders take?
  21. Re: Is this the same? have a look. I think they are different vests....from what I can tell.
  22. Re: Deadliest Catch Season 3... I missed it... Oh well, they'll repeat it!
  23. Re: thanks everyone and good bye We're all here for ya buddy.
  24. Re: Darn it all! I'm avoiding Wlmart. Bought a camo woolrich jacket from them..metal snap button broke on it. Emailed woolrich and they couldn't replace the jacket because it is basically made for Walmart, therefore cheaper materials. They did put a diff. button on it, but I'm avoding buying anything that costs big $$ from them
  25. Re: Turkey vests Well 2 days after I order they tell me it's no longer available...dopes....ah well wasn't meant to be. Now I'm thinking about the H.S. SUV vest...or Cabela's Beard Buster...but the H.S. one seems very nice
