  1. Re: ***Here is a touchy subject...lets talk about Well put friends! One thing I'd like to say is keep in mind RESPECT for the ANIMAL you shoot. We take an animal's life and whether we recover the animal or if we fail to find it no matter how hard we look. give it respect. An animal is living and breathing like us and God made them also!
  2. Re: 1st for the season Congrats again partner! We are going to kick some butt, lol. Can't wait to see the pics.
  3. Re: Hoof deformation..Dogdoc? Wow! Like Griz said horses will get founder and laminitis. We've had 2 of our 3 horses founder but caught it in time - founder being caused by high sugar/starch content in the grass.
  4. Re: Mathews machine Congrats! That will be one good tasting deer!
  5. Re: MN Sept Bruiser Great buck!! Congrats!

    Why?

Re: Why? Thanks for the input everyone. I will shoot again today though it is going to be breezy:( I'll concentrate on form and if need be, move my sight to the right a little and see what happens. Ok, what is timing and how do you know if a bow needs to be timed?
  8. Re: Amish schoolhouse shooting A very sad shame. We live in Amish country and my mom is very good friends with the Amish in the area. I like the Amish better that most Americans, lol. They are so simple, down to earth, and very Godly. They are about as innocent as innocent could be and I feel extremely sorry for the families and for what those children faced. It shocks me what people will do these days. I can't imagine....

    Why?

Re: Why? Shot my bow this evening, barely a breeze if any at all. Arrows didn't go to the right as much but still going there a little bit, but they were shooting very consistent. Now out at 30 yards they were hitting consistent but hitting about 5-6 inches from the center of the target. Is it normal for the arrows to hit farther right the farther out I'm shooting? I'm going to shoot tomorrow after work and maybe see if it's my form, but all the arrows are hitting the same place, just to the right. In fact I just about robin hooded an arrow - the one arrow hit and cracked the nock on the other arrow so it looks like I'll have to run to theb ow shop to get it replaced. I was wondering - how do you consistently keep your same anchor point? The only thing I remember is that I have the string just on the side of the tip of my nose but I'm trying to find out if I can dosomething else to maybe keep a more consistent anchor?
  10. Re: Ordering a new bow tonight!!!!! Nice bow, congrats! I tried a Parker before I fell in love with my Hoyt. Parkers aren't bad bows at all.
  11. Re: wyo bags a whitetail Congrats buddy! I'm happy for you! Now show us some photos, lol

    Why?

Re: Why? hmmm I hope it's just the wind, because it shot awesome at the shop last week. I'm shooting Beman ICS 500 (7.3g) and i think my poundage is around 44/45. It was at 43 before we turned the weight up a turn.
  13. Re: When do you put on your camoflauge? I put everything on in the house since we only jump in the car, drive maybe 3/4 of a mile down the road, up a tractor path and we are on the land we hunt.

    Why?

Ok, yesterday I went out and shot my bow. kind of windy but I needed to practice. Andy raised the draw weight on it the other day - turned each nob once - he said it might shoot a little high. well I go out to shoot yesterday and it didn't really shoot too high but my arrows were going tothe right a little and at 30 yards they really went to the right? I had them right one last time I shot (at theb ow shop a week ago). I'm wondering could it have been the wind? the wind was blowing from left to right and it wasn't a gentle breeze either. I know I read somewhere it's hard to adjust your sights in windy weather - affects your windage. i didn't adjust them because I couldn't find the wrench. I'm going to shoot today when I get home and hopefully it is calm. Think it was the wind or any other thoughts?

    STINKIN weather

Re: STINKIN weather Sounds like what it was here yesterday afternoon. Sun is out now, partially cloudy, not too windy. But deer season doesn't start for 2 weeks so I might go out after squirrels again to satisfy my woods craving:) Good luck!

    Today....

Re: Today.... At least you where out there! Us southern NYer's got 2 more weeks! Are we jealous? Probably, lol. you'll get more chances!
  18. Re: Squirrel Contest Teams/Standings Thanks! the photo of the 3rd squirrel, when I get it up, I positioned the squirrel a little differently so it was easier to see the ruler and base of tail/butt:)
  19. Re: Team 16 Backstrap Butchers is fine by me also:)
  20. Re: THANK YOU REALTREE Awesome! Congrats!
  21. Re: First Time in 19 Years Sorry you have to miss the opener buddy. I know you'll get out there though and enjoy the days you are out even more! I'll be praying you get back out there soon and get a nice buck also!
  22. Re: Pumped to hunt a stand! Yeah, rub isn't too high up the tree, could be the small 6 pointer we saw around. All I know is I haven't gotten a racked buck for the last 2 years, gun or bow, so big or small, it'll be a trophy to me. After then iceb uck walked under my stand last fall, I passed up on a small spike - well it had 3 points, lol, it came right to about 10 yards feeding. I was sorry I had passed on it by the end of bow season.
  23. Re: Squirrel Contest Teams/Standings Entry #1: 12" Entry #2: 12" Tominator if you need close-up tail photos, I have them. The 2nd squirrelsl ooksl ike it could go 12.25" but I went with 12" because I think the ruler is maybe under theb utt too much? It's your call though:) #3 will come soon.
  24. Well I got up at 7:40am, thermometer said 30 degrees F. Sun was out, very light breeze. I got my insulated camo bibs, camo winter jacket, the .22 and hit the woods. What a great morning, came home with 3 squirrels in the bag - 2 young ones and 1 nice adult- and missed a few on the side I even saw a bunch of deer that were out behind my stand that I walked by - they ran off but looked to be does. The exciting part is the bucks were active this morning. Down from this stand on the logging trail is a spot under a hemlock that bucks always scrape - the scrape was really freshly done then I look up the hill to myl eft and there are a couple rubs, green and wet. Talk about fresh! Now I really can't wait until the season. I'll get some photos up of my squirrels today and entered in the contest. That makes 7 squirrels for this season so far
  25. Re: still 2 more weeks No joke! I'm dying down in the southern tier, lol. Two long, long weeks......
