  1. Re: hows everybodys fishin been so far? Earlier this week, did some trout fishing at a near by stream, went downstream where i caught a few trout before, but nothing, not bites. I'm hoping to go upstream and explore with a friend soon. I think there are probably some honey holes up stream:-)

  4. Re: Got tazed! Wow,lol! I think I know how you felt thought! We bought a new fencer for our horse pasturejust this past fall. It was for like a 5-10 mile fence and ours is only likemaybe a mile or 2 at the most. Well one day, coming up with a box of pumpkins from the patch, I bent over to go under the fench, mind you this was near the end of the fence. Well next thing I know, I feel everything in my chest stop, it wasl ike I was frozen in time for a split second, then I heard zzzzzppppp and I go "ooooommpphhh" and fall right on my face. Let me tell you that hurt on my backside!!! Later on in the evening, I wondering why my very lower back was sore, I went in the bathroom, pulled down the waste on my pants and had red burn lines across!!! Yeah, that fencer works, lol.

    Knee injury

Re: Knee injury Could be a meniscal tear from your description but I could be wrong, the meniscus being the cartilage inbetween your knee joint. A tear in that can cause your knee to lock. Really sorry to hear about your injury. Take it easy, ice it 20 minutes, take ice off for an hour and so on, and take ibuprofen. Let us know what you find out and take it easy!
  6. I've been a major major turkey hunting slacker. Since graduation last weekend, I lost all ambition and except for going out for a few hours one morning this week, I have not turkey hunted at all. What is wrong with me?! for one, I pushed hard the first week, then of course the weather has been cold, rainy, windy, and miserable all this week, and of course, I now have no clue where to turkeys are so I need to scout all over again because next week is my last week really to hunt. I was up on top of the gravel pit last night and they are bulldozing it because they are done using it so it is getting bulldozed from a cliff into a hill, then they plowed part of the field below it where I was seeing turkeys, no fresh sign really. Maybe this weekend, with the rain, the turkeys will move back out to the field. I took a hike around part of the property I hunt and so no fresh sign so it makes me think they are moved to the other half of the property, maybe. Anyone have any suggestions as to how to scout/hunt late season turkeys, especially when the weather is going to be rainy and windy on Sunday? Thanks!
  7. So some of you may remember my post about who likes to collect the Ertl replica tractors? And I know some of you replied and have quite the collection! Well I've ordered my fly fishing left and have a little graduation money left, so I thought I'd find a nifty tractor to add to my small collection, It may seem lame to need help deciding, but I do Hopefully these links will work. I've been looking on different websites, at 1/32 scale models. Ebay has alot, but everyone bids on them and the price goes way to high. I never new tractors were so collectible, lol. Anyway, take a look and tell me what you think; maybe it'll ease my decision process Or if you know of any other websites, let me know. I tend to go for the big, 4wd tractors, and some of the oldies are goodies, just way out of my price range. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...A%3AIT&rd=1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...A%3AIT&rd=1 or do I got 1/64 scale? lol https://www.outbacktoystore.com/images/products/15671.jpg Of course, with 1/64, you can get just about any implement you want, geesh.

    Braces

So how many of you ever had to have braces and then a retainer after you got your braces off? Both my sister and I had braces, then after our braces were taken off, they glued a piece of wire on the back of our lower teeth and then we wore a regular retainer. I thought of this because my mom called our orthodontist to get a check-up and told the receptionist that last year the dr. said we might get the wire taken off this year. So I guess she looked at the charts and my sister's chart said her teeth were excellent andm ine were good, she she has a better chance of getting the wire off. I don't know why, but it annoys me a bit. I'm way ready to get rid of this stupid wire and I've worn this retainer every night for the past couple years. Just makes me feel like I have bad teeth or something. Ok, well just had to vent
  11. Re: Fly fishing equipment.... Ok, I think I understand. After awhile, the tapered leader will get shorter from tying flies on so I'll need to add the tippet on? I'm ordering my rod and reel from Cabela's right now. The thing is, since the reel is free, the price is suppose to be deducted from the total but it isn't doing that which means more shipping charges but maybe they'll fix that when they actually process the order. They'd better, lol.
  12. Re: Fly fishing equipment.... Thanks everyone! So I am trying to order my stuff on Cabelas and I found tapered leaders and Du, you said the tapered leader is a lader and tippet together already so I don't need to worry about a tippet correct?
  13. Re: Fly fishing equipment.... LOL Carbonhunter! So another question just popped up, should the tippet line and leader line be the same weight/size?
  14. Re: just left the emergency room (pic, slightly gr Yeeeooowww! That had to hurt! I've got my fingers caught in a car door but never came close to being that bad, but it really hurts and makes opening the door to get your finger out hard! Hope it heals up fast!
  15. Re: Fly fishing equipment.... thanks dU for the help! Will I need to change leader sizes for fly sizes or no?yeah, I have dry flies, maybe a few nymphs, not sure.
  16. Re: Fly fishing equipment.... Well, I was at Walmart tonight and got some fly line - 5wt./floating/forward weight, and 100 yards of fly backing. The fly line also had the loop at the end like you recommended to make it easier for putting leaders They also had leaders and tippets but I wasn't sure what to get size wise so maybe someone can help me there. I was reading this small pamphelt in one of the kits they had there and it was talking about the leaders or tippets and the size depends on the size of fly you use? I'm not sure what size fly I'll be using but of the flies I do have, it will be around the 10-14 size I think? Whatever size is good for trout. The had like 3,4, and 5 pound test leaders. So does the leader attach to the fly line and then the tippet attach the leader to the fly? Does anyone now any nots for doing some of this attaching and how do you attach the fly backing to the fly line? Oh yeah, they also had these small pin like things to attach the line to the fly backing or leaders or what, I'm not, just wondering if anyone knwos anything about those? If anyone knows any good website for instructions, let me know! Thanks everyone!
  17. Re: Fly fishing equipment.... So do I need leaderss and tippets or no, is that for like fishing bigger fish? So far I know I need a rod, reel, floating weight foward fly line, and fly line backing. I've got a few flies already. Anything else, lol?
  18. Re: Fly fishing equipment.... Thanks muggs! Anyone know anything about the Cabelas Three Forks/Pfleuger Medalist combo? i'm going to Walmart later so I'm going to check the price of line and such there.
  19. Re: Fly fishing equipment.... Wow, line sure is expensive, lol. what about fly line backing? What's the purpose of it, do I need it, and what should I be looking for in that if I do need it? Thanks! And what about leaders and tippets? Man this is getting expensive, lol
  20. Re: Finally Got A Deer Trucks can be fixed/ replaced, deer and people can not, lol. Glad you were ok!
  21. Re: Fly fishing equipment.... Ummm...I was thinking like around 5 or 6?
  22. Re: Fly fishing equipment.... Muggs, I'll probably use it more for trout than steelhead. I'll wait until I'm more experience to try steelhead, lol. Du, I was looking at the combo since it has the fly line and everything, but I saw that they are 3 piece and really long, so I'm kind of leaning towards the traditional rod with the prestige reel, since it probably seems like the better of the 2 options. I'm going to try to find the email of this lady who taught us, and ask her what she recommends.
  23. Re: Fly fishing equipment.... In a Cabelas cataloge I got a little bit ago, the Spring edition, they have a Cabela's Cahill Combo which has fly line/backing, a graphite rod, and a choice of a graphite reel or a aluminum reel I think. I did see before on the website that they were offering that if you bought a traditional rod, you got a reel (the prestige) for free. Is that what you are talking about? I'd like to try to stay under $100. What I found also was Cabelas Cahill rod with a graphite reel combo for $50 or Cabelas Cahill rod with Ross flycast reel combo for $80; not sure how those are. Thanks for your help!
  24. Re: Fly fishing equipment.... Thanks DU! I was looking at the Cabela's Cahill combo's; they seemed like a decent deal, do you know anything about those? And which would be better as that combo offers either a graphite reel or one that is aluminum I think. Thanks! Hopefully I can find something good for a beginner that will last:)
