Well I went out on a hike today looking for sheds. Of all the walking I did, I found one shed and it has got to be the oldest, ugliest, chewed up shed I've ever found and have in my possession,lol! Still, it's a shed and makes it my 3rd for the year but I would have preferred to find something a little more "fresh". The most points I could say it has or had is probably 2 just because it is so chewed and old. I was walking on a deer trail near one of our stands and found it, fresh rodent chews on it so that is probably why I found it lying there. I'll get a photo posted tomorrow; it isn't pretty I'll warn you all!

Re: Fox problem! Well I saw the stinker today while vacuuming the kitchen,lol. I grabbed the .22 and had a good look at her, but I didn't aim high enough for the distance, therefore I didn't hit her. I ran and grabbed Andy's 12 ga. rifles slug gun which can shoot farther better but she was gone. She probably came back to try and move her pups. I walked up and saw she had dug another hole into the den and she's also dug out the other den at the other end of the woods. Sooner or later we'll get a chance

Re: Fox problem! Thanks sureshot. Andy and I went fishing today, got home and my sister had seen the fox pups and the mother moving them to the other den in our woods. My sister was actually right near the den watching them. Well we saw the pups and the mother at the den and Andy got his 12 gauge shotgun but them other disappeared so he took the .22 to try and get the pups but they ran into the dan so as I type this, there are some fires lit right now in the dens, you can see the flames from the house, but I don't know that it'll work. Andy thinks the scent will make them move again but I think it is better to wait and kill them then let them move because that fox will come back I'd think. I'll keep ya posted

So since we've had chickens, we've had an issue with a fox or a couple problem foxes getting them when they are out loose. We moved our one dog down by the chicken coop in hopes he'd keep them away. We were wrong.We also have 6 ducks which my sister hadn't been closing in at night. Well between Friday night and Saturday morning, probably when the sun came up, we had a rooster who got out taken by a fox, and 3 ducks! Andy found that we have 2 different active dens in our woods and the one den had one of our ducks half pulled into the hole. As my mom and I were leaving for Walmart, he told us this. When we came back, he said he went up there a half hour later after we left to try to smoke them out or smoke them in, I'm not sure, but the duck was pulled all the way into the hole. From Conservation Biology this year, I know that what we have are a couple problem/pest foxes that are really really smart now since they first got a chicken and probably if we get rid of them, we'll be ok. I don't know if Andy's smoke thing suffocated them or not, I kind of doubt it, but I need to find a call somewhere and then sit up in our corn field and wait them out. A sad part is the fox came up and practically took the chicken and ducks right from under the one dog's nose. His doghouse is about 20 yards from the chicken coop and the feathers were right in front and around the coop. Anyone have any other suggestions?

Re: Get this.....strangest knock at the door ever Wow, that is really scary! I would try to avoid any type of conflict with this guy, he's sounds dangerous anyway. I hope he stays away though, what a weirdo.

Re: Scouting state land Never heard of Sterling Forest. The land that is around me is Bush Hill State Forest, umm Swift Hill state forest, and there's another one to I think.

Re: Is Everyone O.K.? Wow, I hope some our Realtree friends down in the hard hit states are ok. I'm glad I live in NY where tornados don't really happen. A couple years ago a small one happened about 20 minutes away that broke alot of tree tops and took out a farm house but no major damage and definitel not like the tornadoes you southern people get! I'll keep you all in my prayers.

Re: deer hunting games Yeah, Deer Hunter 2005 is a blast! I hope some Realtree folks can get together for an online hunt this week. I have Cabela's Deer Hunt 2005 season which is good also. What would we all do in the off season with out these games? lol
