Re: Turkeys starting to strut in NY My sister saw the flock again today and when she slowed down, the gobbler puffed up then she saw him gobble. She didn't hear him but saw him stick his neck out when gobbling. Man I'm psyched. I hope I can find a good flock on state land here.

Re: Who carries an arsenal of calls? Usually either my Quaker Boy Quad Threat, Knight & Hale Ol' Yeller, or a push-pin call, then at least 2 mouth calls, 2 strikers, and a crow call and owl call.

So I don't know if any of you NYer's are seeing any gobbler action but my mom told me that yesterday on the way home from class, my sister saw a huge flock (30-40) of turkeys and there was a turkey strutting! I have to ask her where it was but I suspect probably some random farmer's field somewhere. So now I have some initiative to go out and start scouting the state land where I found a turkey nest just this last June I think it was.

Re: Got out today Nothing like thosel ong hikes for sheds and you don't find anything. It is still nice to be out in the woods, but finding something makes it a nice motivation to do it again,lol.

Re: Nasty ear infection That is rough! I'll try to remember to say a prayer. I'm surprised the doctor didn't keep him in the hospital overnight on an IV and meds. The vomiting is going to dehydrate the poor little guy. I had one when I was like 10 or something; water got plugged in my ear. Maybe try a heating pad or a warm washcloth.

Anyone in NY or maybe even out of NY ever been to one of these or sent your kids there? Since I couldn't get an internship at a local state park, I've applied for a counselor position at the DEC Environmental Summer Camp which is actually not very far from where I live. I got an application in the mail today after sending a resume and cover letter, so now I've got to get 3 references, fill out the application, send it all in, and do a phone interview. The last time I worked at a camp, I quit after the first week of staff training because the director was totally mad and insane (I'm serious like she made up these lies and expected me to believe them). I don't have alot of experience with 12-14 year olds but I enjoy teaching others about the outdoors so I hope if this goes through, I can do it well. Anyone have any advice or comments?

Re: Whew! I made it Oh I survived though we lost again 9-1 so we are now 1-2. Kind of stinks because the team we played are a bunch of Barbie Dolls that are rough,lol, it's true though.

Well even though no one seemed to pay attention much to my post, I survived my 50 minute senior seminar presentation. I'm so glad it is done; I can relax somewhat. Now I just have to survive the soccer game in a half hour,lol. Have a good night Realtree'ers

Well in about 4 hours from now I'll probably be starting my 50 minute presentation on Risk Taking for Senior Seminar-the "capstone" of recreation majors. I don't feel that nervous but the butterflies are flying fast for some reason,lol.Between a powerpoint and video, this all has to last 50 minutes and right now I'm hoping I don't forget everything and sound nervous and talk to fast. Anyone have any suggestions or tips for the "big night"?
