Re: Quitting smoking. healthy or not? It is healthier to quit, especially in the long run! Keep at it Horst! My mom quit smoking and yeah she gained a few more pounds, but she could taste and smell better. Smoking really does more harm than good.

Yeah, really! After my one class ended at 12:40pm, I went to thel ibrary to check my email. I find an email waiting for me from the director if financial servives saying that I have been awarded a $250 scholarship! Boy was I surprised and thrilled! Although it doesn't seem like alot, it will probably pay for my textbooks this next semester, not to mention I never thought I'd ever get a scholarship! One of the first things I said was thank you Lord! He has provided for me in a way I never even thought of Ok, I just wanted to share the happiness with you all

Well I'm still around, this college thing is just swamping me. I had to hand in 2 papers today in one class that went along with 2 presentations in the same class. I had 2 exams on Monday, and still another paper due Friday. A flower/fern practical next Tuesday, shotgun deer season starts next Saturday, and I'm still trying to fill my one archery tag and fall turkey tag (really hard to decide which to hunt). Oh, and I'm also trying to figure out where I'll be doing my internship, maybe locally or a possibility of in the Adirondacks. So that's what is up with me, what's up with you all?

Re: upstate new york buzz Well I've seen a real dandy twice now, couldn't get a shot off. I'm in Allegany county and the deer aren't moving until dusk, usually with about 20 minutes of shooting light left. Maybe with this front moving in, the deer will move around.

So last night, which was really warm, I hunted from my other stand. The wind was not cooperating but it did give me the swamp behind me, which is where the deer like to bed during the day. Well about a half hour before light began fading, I hear crunch crunch and behind me steps a wide rack buck! I think he was the one that walked below my other stand but I'm not sure. I stood up and turned around and he stopped. He didn't look at me but I think he got some scent or something and he turned and walked in a big half loop around me and away. He had probably been 25 yards away before he turned, I am so disappointed! I hunted the same stand this mornign and saw nothing. The wind is really blowing right now and the way it is, I'll be hunting the other stand where I originally saw him. After today, I probably won't get back out again until Tuesday or Wednesday night. I was thinking maybe having some doe pee might help bring him in but I don't have it and won't be near a store with it. Anyone have any advice? If I see him again, I'm going to be afraid to move! Hopefully tonight though, with this cold front blowing in, something will appear...

Re: Going to Be a Sleepless Night Good luck and let us know what happens! I think most of us know how you feel. Bad shots happen even to the best hunters. We have control of the bow but not over the arrow or the deer. If anything, bad shots are good learning opportunities. I hope you find him!

Well since about Thursday, we'veh ave temps. in the the 60's to almost 70, and I have seen no deer. Andy saw alot of deer in the fields yesterday and dead on the road, I know the bucks are really moving now but this warm weather must be keeping them lazy or something. We saw nothing this morning but here is the good news. The stand i've been hunting where that big buck walked under...well there was a rub on a tree about 5 yards from the tree my stand is in and when I went hunting Friday, the rub was even bigger! So I know therei s a buck traveling there, just have to wait him out I guess. I just hope this weather cools down a little bit so the deer get moving. But Andy talked to his brother today who leaves like 45 minutes away, and the deer I guess are moving early whereas if the weather is warm, the deer don't move until about half an hour before dark. Anyone else is a similar situation with the warm weather?

Ok, I have been to the dentist enough times this summer. Last night I noticed my one tooth where I had a filling done in the summer, was being sensitive to anything cold or slightly cold. Of course with all the tooth problems I had, I went paranoid,lol. the nightb efore I ate a carmel apple and am thinking mayeb that did it, but I don't feel anyplaces where my filling came out or anything. Mom said maybe it was just from all the chewing. I have been enjoying several months of no sensitive teeth and now this!? I only hope it is short term because I do not want to and do not have the time to go to the dentist again. Ok, I'm done venting, make me feel better.
