  1. I haven't seen any talk about this in here but a few counties in the southern tier of NY including mine (Allegany County) may see rifles allowed during deer season. A local news website has been staying up to date on this and so far it is somewhat controversial. I personally am against it because the DEC firsy said we have too many deer no they say less DMP's because not enough deer then they say Cattaragus and Allegany have too many deer. Also rifle ammo travels a longer distance and the way people hunt down where I live, well the chance of being hit by a stray bullet surely would increase. The one article I read said that allowing rifles means hunters will be able to make longer shots, giving those big bucks less of a chance to live another day and that in the deer world we would have more deer of the "children and adolescent" age category. It seems that hunting with shotgun/muzzeloader/archery has become to "hard" for some hunters or something. I really think the DEC needs to clean up it's act. I also read this rifle thing was kind of a "backdoor" thing that was not brought up much if at all at DEC meetings for the public and that it is all politics meaning it will bring in more money. Just my opinions but what do the rest of you think without getting mad at me,lol?
  2. Re: Lightning Beautiful photos Bill! God's magnificent handiwork shows in those photos!
  3. Re: Buck hit by car this AM I am always saddened to see a young deer, buck or doe, get hit on the road. We had a deer hit on our road about a month ago which is a country back road and deer are rarely hit here. Someone cut off the entire neck and head and left the rest of the body in the ditch. The body looked to be of a young deer so hopefully it wasn't one of the larger bucks running around.

  5. Well guys, I know my posts have slacked off a bit but custodial keeps me busy from 7am to 3:30pm and then the rest of the day I spend sitting around or weeding my garden or hunting woodchucks, lol. I don't have alot of news except that yesterday our phones and the plug-in box thing that we have our computer and phones and whatnot plugged into got fried by lightening. Our mom even got kind of zapped by it also. She told us that she was in the living room eating lunch and watching tv when she reached for her can of tea and at the same time saw a flash by the window and somewhat heard/felt a zap from the tea can, making her drop her can spilling the tea. Wild huh? Anyway we didn't know the phones were dead until we got home from work and my sister couldn't get on the internet. We have phones now but the plug-in box is fried so we have to get a new one. Luckily the computer is ok. A couple years ago we got struck by lightening and it fried the computer modem! Oh I also have been up to trying to find a good photo for the contest, I may have gotten one the other day while fishing but whether it wins or not, who knows, lol. Ok, well I want some breakfast. Talk to you all later and I hope everyone is good/being good

    Daily Report

Re: Daily Report Another day working custodial at college for me. I am really getting frustrated with a girl who is lazy and doesn't do her job; cleaning is't that hard. On a great note I saw my old advisor from athletic training and his family. They are here in the area for the month. They have been in Mexico working with an outdoor missions type of program for a couple years now. It was so great to see them!

    spotlighting

Re: spotlighting Never really spotlight. I'll go for walks in the evening and look at deer through binocs. I do find spotlighting annoying when people spotlight our pasture and woods which I think I read in the DEC regulations you have to have permission to spotlight someone's land. Oh well, it is a good way to see deer I suppose.
  10. Re: You People Here Are GREAT!! Yup I love this site; the best one that I know of! Everyone is treated with respect and best of all we love helping each other, not just with hunting but life in general I'd say.
  11. Re: Question for the college folk. My college allows you to bring your shotgun and and bow but you have to keep them at the Security office. Luckily I commute from home so what I need isat home, lol. I usually don't start shooting my bow until September and that usually occurs in the evenings after classes all day. Check things out and maybe you'll find something. Good luck!
  12. Re: thebig1\'s Update Congrats on the job and passing the Academy. I'll say a prayer for you that things will work out. God has his plans for you.
  13. Re: My Dog Died!!!!!!!!!!! Wow that is really sad. Where abouts do you live as I am in Allegany County. That is horrible that coyotes would do that, must be a high population. Poor dog and poor you:-(
  14. Re: If you could only hunt one thing? It is a toss up. Ilove hunting deer but turkeys and squirrels are fun also!
  15. Re: Buckee !! You da man Buckee!
  16. Re: Bowtech is the best bow... Awesome to see another women, welcome to Realtree! I've got an older Hoyt bow that shoots pretty good but someday maybe I'll have a really nice bow!
  17. Re: Nice SW Pennsylvania buck pics. Nice looking PA buck! Send him up this way to NY,lol
  18. Re: Two Nice Bucks - Which one would you take? If either one came under my stand, I wouldn't hesitate shooting! I'd go with #1 because of the neat character it has.
  19. Re: Never Fails We just had some rain finally here and my garden is full of WEEDS!
  20. Re: WIFE NEEDS PRAYERS How horrible! I'll be praying for her!
  21. Re: Sheds of a diffferent color That is awesome! I've always wanted to have a moose shed and elk shed in my collection which probably won't happen because there aren't any in this part of NY,lol!
  22. Re: The dentist AGAIN Thanks everyone. Still waiting until next Tuesday. I'm pretty sure there is a little pit or something there as I can feel it....ugh. Another long, hot day at custodial
  23. Well friends, I could use a prayer or two. Last Wednesday I got a filling done. Well I expected a tooth with a new filling to be a little sensitive but after a week it was still sensitive in a tooth next to the filling. Well today I notice that I felt like there is a small hole/pit there. I don't know if something chipped or if the dentist didn't fill it in but any hot or cold makes a sharp pain there and chewing makes my tooth sore. The pain doesn't last long but I could stick a tooth pick in the little pit and it hurt...Hopefully the dentist will see that and fix it and this will all quit. Pray they can take me earlier than next Tuesday. The 4th time I will have been to the dentist in like 4 weeks!
  24. Re: Went for a walk tonight Don't worry Birddog, I am very careful and besides, the scope sucks anyway, lol. It doesn't zoom in or anything; I could see better with my cheap pair of binocs with a scope but I can see how accidents can happen; I just prevent myself from having one. Tominator... you just won't give up will you, lmbo! I'm glad I can humor you:-)
  25. Re: The two farm brutes. Awesome! Someday I hope I get to see a true monster buck alive! Good luck at getting a shot!
