Re: Something is killing my ducks Archer, some Amish friends of my mom...they had something getting their chickens through the wire. The were like eating part of them or just killing them and the Amish guy has found raccoons getting them so he is in the process of killing a few coons so you do have the possibility of coons also. We have had problems with foxes getting our chickens though... You may want to sit out there at night or something with a .22 or stick a game cam out there if you have one. Or put a hav-a-hart type of trap out also.

Re: In need of.... Well in my part of NY state, we got a nice t-storm last night with lots of rain then more rain today so I am definitely happy,lol! The storm last night though messed up the phone system and some computers on campus.

Who is in need of RAIN!? We really need some here in NY. I just looked at a radar screen on a website and all the rain is passing below where I live. We had a few rumbles of thunder but no wet droplets. The ground is dry and hard and dusty. The gardens are ok but it is HOT HOT HOT which makes sleeping less than desirable. Believe me, rain is in my prayers!

Re: Shooting a roosted turkey..... Ditto gitcha... Sure shooting a turkey from the roost may not be in every hunters' book of ethics but unless it is illegal...don't make it such a big deal.... There are more important things to think about like and number of people dying in war or the safety and education of your children.

Re: Troubles With Flies Go to a store that has horse supplies. There is a fly trap, kind of like a bottle, that attracts flies (regular house flies or any flies I think) and they get stuck in the bottle. We got one and it worked. I think they are relatively not too expensive. Or use the sticky fly tapes which are cheap.

So what do you all think about the changes to the NY deer hunting seasons and about the possiblity of allowing rifle hunting in other counties (which includes mine)? In my opinion, I think the DEC has done a good job in trying to change the the seasons as in no early muzzleloading season. I still think the DEC is still trying to play God with everything. I'm not so sure about the rifle hunting. Yeah it would be nice to be able to shoot a deer at a long distance, but I think of our neighbors who do drives and shoot deer that are running. The thought of rifle bullets shot that many times when I'm hunting is scary; I worry about being shot when they are in the woods. It won't keep me out of the woods though! Anyway just wanted to hear your opinions...

Anyone else in a heat wave? Here in my part of NY, back home of course, it is around 90 and very humidand going to be like this for the next few days at least. I really have to water my potatoes/carrots/pumpkins tonight! What do you all do when it is hot? By the way my tooth problem is better but if I eat/drink anything cold, it starts the pain again, but it goes away at least! I'm too sensitive,lol

Just wondering how many of you get North American Whitetail magazine and saw the article on the record buck from PA? Michael Waddell went to see him. It is an awesome but the think that struck me was the shot the guy made on this buck. He shot him with a crossbow right below the white throat patch. I'm glad he got a nice trophy but still, that is not a very good shot and the deer didn't die right away. Maybe his sights were off or deer fever got him but I was slightly disturbed that someone might make a shot like that. I'm sorry if I offend anyone, I'm not trying to and sure I have made some not so great shots but just wondering what anyone else might think.....

You are here on this earth to serve the Lord and from reading your post, to me it looks like you are just doing whatever God wants you to do. The job may not always be easy but that is part of our earthly life and God's will for us.
