Re: What\'s happening in NY I didn't go out at all, I slept in the keep up the energy. Actually if it starts pouring out,, I'll go out by the fields, otherwise tomorrow ism y last chance. I ditto you on being the worst season since I've been hunting! There are a few fixes that need to be shot because they take our chickens and that will help the turkey population also. There is alot of foxes/coyotes here that need to be done in! Or the DEC need to take another look at the turkey population NY state

Re: Vegetable gardens? 150 pounds? WOW! I'm not that close, lol

Re: help???? Roosting is tough when they don't gobble but try sitting near where they hang out alot or where you think they may be roosting. Find a high point to listen from, like a hill or ridge. Are you in NY by chance? Tuesday is my last day and I've heard no gobbles, only seen hens, but there is some hope left. Good luck to you!

Just wondering, how many of you plant vegetable gardens and what do you plant? I have a garden that I plant pumpkins/gourds and carrots and potatoes in (because Andy is lazy and won't plant potatoes anymore, lol) and then we have another garden where Andy plants corn and mom plants the tomatoes, onions, peas, beans, brussel sprouts, cucumbers, zucchine, summer squash and acorn/butternut squash. We also have asparagus that comes up each year and it sure beats asparagus from the store! So anyone else?

Re: I...M...M...M...isssssed!!! Last spring I had a chance at a huge gobbler...he flew down in front of me, was gobbling, I thoguht he was about 30 yards. My shot went just over the top of him. I found most of the shot in a tree, a few inches higher than where his head would be. I believe I got too excited and didn't have my cheek down on the gun enough. Good luck to you!

Well I went out scouting the fields after the rain. Spotted 3 turkeys in a field that manure had been spread on. I snuck to the top of this gravel pit so I could look down on them. Two looked like hens, one maybe a jake but it was hard to tell. I kept walking and basically went around the perimeter of my hunting area. I did find something cool lying right on top of the soil of a planted corn field.....a near perfect arrowhead! It's a beauty and I plan on putting some pics up! So I got up this morning and set up by the edge of the field where I saw the turkeys last night....Saw and heard nothing until I walked down the field edge and into the woods. A hen called so I called back and we were going at it then she quit and didn't come in! I've had this happene twice this season...go figure. So I eventually went to another field where there was sign...saw and heard nothing...Went to another spot this time in the woods, really nice open area....saw and heard nothing. I headed home at 9am. Came to the field behind our house and saw a lump in the dirt on the edge of the woods...thought it was a stump or dirt....until I walked out in the field and it wasa turkey! So I am going on top of the gravel pit tonight because it borders that field where I saw turkeys last night and the woods where I think the turkeys roost. Hopeflly there is something with a beard in there somewhere!

Re: Weird things while hunting Just this last shotgun deer season is probably the weirdest thing that happened to me. Ok, so you get the picture, our neighbors like to get a bunch of their friends togetehr and run through the woods, chasing the deer and shooting at them, running. Anyway they are jerks but each year our horse fence will get knocked down by deer when the neighbors chase them and the deer run across some fields and the road into our woods. Well this day I decided to hunt in the stand in our small patch of woods incase any deer got chased this way. I sat until I was cold then just as I had climbed down, I heard BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM from across the road so I climb back up. I soon see some deer running through a field on the other side of the road and they turn to come across the road, still way out of shooting range. Well as I watch them near the road, a black, shiny car is coming up the road fast. I swear I don't know how this happened but I saw the deer run across the road, the car went past the deer and I hear a big THUMP and see a deer leap in the air! The car kept going like it never it a thing and I saw the deer run into some woods (not ours) across from me. I call to the house on the radio, tell Andy that some deer ran through and he comes over to see if they stopped and he could chase them towards me. Well nothing came out, they must have snuck out somewhere. When I climb down, Andy tells me "There is a really big doe lying dead over there, no gun wound" and I say " I knew it, a deer really did get hit by the car that went through!" So we filled a doe tag with a HUGE doe and only lost a little meat where what must have been the corner of the car hit her which was right behind the shoulder. She had broken ribs and her was completely blown out from the force. Amazing and I believe it was one of God's blessings. It also shows that not all deer hit by vehicles are a total waste and also how far a deer can go when hit be a car before dying. This deer died about 100 yards from the road.

Re: Whitetail Pro Jumps The Fence Not to sound really high on myself or preachy but none of us are perfect, only God is, therefore you don't know everything. You may not like what Jim had to say but except that he isn't perfect like the rest of you and is entitled to his opinion liek we all are. Quit bashing other people. Ok, sorry, I'm off my soap box, I just had to vent.

Re: 4 DAY WEEKEND That is a nice employer! Have fun and be safe!

Re: Mindless Work I wouldn't consider mowing the yard mindles work. If you want mindless work, consider working for the custodial department at my college over the summer, 5 days a week for 8 hours a day cleaning everything from rugs to toilets to walls to the bugs out of lights! If that isn't mindless, I don't know what is,lol!

Re: My 25th Birthday Was On May 27th, Here\'s My Gift.. Wow, I'm sorry PA, that really does stink. Don't be blaming yourself, things happen for reasons only God knows. I'm glad the only things lost were material, those can be replaced but your family cannot. -
