    Not again!

I think I might be getting sick...grr... I can't, turkey season starts in 6 days and I have final exams this week. All I know is my lower jaw aches and feels like someone punched me and my spine hurts also...go figure. All I did was sit arorund the house yesterday doing homework. Guess I'll be shoving some vitamins when I get home just incase. It is always the stress of finals that get people sick but I've been trying to stay calm, lol
  2. Any of you have one of those days, like today, when the weather sucks and you want to be outside but it is too miserable and there is nothing good on TV and you don't know what to do? I'm having one of those days! I've written like 4 papers, have 2 left which will get done maybe tomorrow, and it is so nasty outside that I can't go out scouting for turkeys. Turkey season starts 1 week from today so this week is going to drag!
  3. Re: Great Weather.... Hey, we had snow in NY this morning. It is melted now but it is only about 30 degrees out!
  4. Re: Forum Hunt in Missouri , updates every day Way to go Billkay, congrats to you!
  5. Re: ***Would you buy one if I can make it happen*** Yes, probably. I seeall these people with yellow ones for cancer or whatever so camo would be even cooler, especially when supporting hunters!
  6. Re: First Double, Last Tag Congrats to both of you!
  7. Re: Miserable! My college does not have air conditioning in the Library or the dorms or the Phys.ED center, I hate going to either of those buildings in the summer when I work custodial
  8. I have yet another prayer request, and this is very tragic I just found out on a local newspaper website that the son/grandson of a family we know fairly well, Gordon Wesley (his grandfather delivered my sister and I) was killed in an army training exercise on Tuesday in Kansas, he was only 19 but was married and has a 1 year old son. I ask that you keep his family in your prayers. This is so tragic, my mom is shocked. Thanks friends.
  9. Re: NYers-- interesting discussion My one rec professor at college, who hunts, teaches tracking, does outdoor survival and has a real love for the outdoors told us in a class about a year ago that he believed their were cougars in NY state but that the DEC kept quiet about it. I believe him though I hope I don't see one without a gun.
  10. So we are suppose to get like 2-4 inches of snow tonight through Monday morning. In my preseason scouting I really want to find some birds without searching the woods for them. I was wondering what you all, especially people in NY, think how the snow will affect the birds? I'm so anxious to find a gobbler(s) so I know where they are opening morning.
  11. Well after I got home from school and had something to eat(because college students are alwaysh ungry, lol), I decided to go look for turkeys even though it was pouring rain and about 40 degrees. I got my rain gear on, took the binocs, and owl call, and one of our dogs. I saw nothing in the first fields, found some tracks in the mud next to a creek and the old remains of a turkey(stupid coyotes/foxes) and then saw a hen in a plowed field. Last week I had a gobbler fired up and he was by himself on land I don't hunt, this time it is a hen by herself...what's going on? I did fine what looked to be gobbler dropping on a ridge so hopefully there is a gobbler around. I know there are turkeys around but why is it so hard to find any sign? It has been pouring rain still but if it isn't tomorrow morning, I'll get up early and hit the woods to listen for gobbles. 1 week to go from Sunday and I really want to get ab ird this year! Does anyone know why I'm not seeing alot of fresh scrtachings in the woods? Are the turkeys doing most of their feeding in the fields or something? Oh yeah, and on the opposite side of the land I hunt, where one farmer's land borders up to this one, this guy is logging, again, and I'm wondering how this is going to affect the turkeys....any suggestions?
  12. Re: what do u guys use to sit on I use either the ground or the seat attached to my turkey vest.
  13. I've been kind of busy with tons of homework but I wanted to ask you to all keep this girl and her family in your prayers. Sarah is a girl I met in one of my classes and she is a Sociology major and pretty neat person like many are at my college. Anyway on chapel on Monday ,they announced that her father had been involved in a severe accident and was in serious condition. The next day I found out in a class from my prof. that his wife, whom I know, flew down with Sarah to New Orleans to be with her father. From what I knew, Sarah's parents, who traveled from their home in the Adirondacks to somewhere down south to go on a cruise. Another driver hit them I think. Anyway the father was on life support but he was showing not good brain function. I was shocked to hear all this news. Well I heard today that Sarah's father died. It surely is sad and my heart goes out to this young girl who is graduating this year, without her father. Please keep Sarah and her family in her prayers. The good news is they are Christians but I cannot imagine the sadness and tregdy Sarah and her family are facing. People, enjoy and appreciate every minute you have with someone you love because you never know when the Lord will call them home.

    What beauty!

I should take a photo to show you all....of this gorgeous bruise I got last night in our last intramural soccer game(we lost). I was goalie and an opponent was right in front of me, the ball came her way and I ran out to block it and kick it away and her feet came down and kicked me in both knees but more on the one than the other. So I have a nice, purple muscle bruise on the inside of my knee...sweet! lmbo I finally have a mark for all the work I've done! Oh yeah, when stopping the ball at a high speed, I got a bruise on my thumb also, hee hee

  16. I need your opinions friends. Ok, on Monday my college had this small art contest-construcy something out of natural materials. Well I took all of my sheds and laid them out in the shape of a tree...a "tine tree". I don't know if I won or not but I just got this email from a guy asking if he could buy a couple of my sheds for a project he is doing.....I don't know if I should sell any of these as I worked hard to find them, lol, but I have a couple sheds that Andy found that I would be willing to sell. What do you all think?
  17. Re: could not believe my eyes God knows all....He can surely see what you are doing on your part to take care of His natural creation. I always think in my mind "Give to nature and nature gives back(or more like God gives back)
  18. Re: Do Turkeys Roost In The Ground??? I've seen turkeys sometimes try to hide in tall grass or brush, never seen one roost in the ground, definitely seen them roost in trees! I think turkeys like to scratch around though in dirt piles outside of woodchuck hoels and such.
  19. Re: NY expands CWD testing of wild deer Two things that came into my mind is....alot of deer get killed on the roads and then sit there and rot, why can't the DEC get those already killed deer and test them? Secondly...what is the DEC going to do with all these wild deer they shoot? Use the meat or put them into a big pile and burn them? It would be a major shame and disgrace to see all that meat wasted....
  20. This week has been a tornado of work work work! At least it is the weekend but I'm meeting a girl today who is helping me with the shoulder tests for class. I made it through CPR on Thursday, only got 1 wrong on the multiple choice written test. I'm really annoyed with this one girl from my Psychology class. We were assigned partners to peer review our 10 page paper before giving it to the prof. Well she was late reviewing it the first time and this weekend I have to wait for her to return the final draft by email and it is due Monday morning by 7:30am (according to the prof.) She is the most inconsiderate, self-centered person.aarrgghh! Not too mention she made no effort at all to give me her paper to peer review, go figure........... Anyway I'm praying the Lord puts it on her heart to get the paper done and back to me TODAY! I do not like to be held up with schoolwork due to some one else's inconsiderateness. Ok I've vented, lol! How is everyone else?

    CPR...

Re: CPR... LOL @ Ranger! Maybe that's it but we have resuscitation masks to prevent disease transmission!

    CPR...

Well tonight is recertification CPR for the Professional Rescuer. I can't wait until it's over, I don't why I dread it but I do. Maybe it is trying to remember all the numbers of breaths and chest compressions and how stuff differs when doing it on an infant or child. All this on a plastic dummy with one of your professors standing over you! Hopefully I'll never have to give anyone CPR...
  23. Re: Dogdoc: need Vet help! We use Advantage that we get from our vet. It works really well, just give the dogs drops once a month and takes care of the fleas. We do our cats also. It is a bit pricey but it works!
  24. Re: It is getting crazy.... Hey BucknRut, where are you going to be scouting down my way?
  25. Well if you all know or remember what the week and a half before finals week at college is like, you'll know what I'm talking about! I have this dumb paper to finish, observe a program at church tonight, tomorrow is CPR recertification at 6:30pm, Friday I might be able to breath after I turn in the paper, Saturday is meet with a girl to practice shoulder testing and work on a project...oh my gosh where does the turkey scouting come in? lol
