  5. with the price of feritilizer i have been doing a rotation. planting an annual legume in the spring and then a cereal grain/brassica in the fall. I dont use near the amount of fertilizer as i used too. I'm sure my production is affected but sure cant tell a decline in production and the deer still seem to eat it just fine. an expensive hobby for sure. todd
  6. looks good. I finally got some rain on my plots that i planted 2 weeks ago. Hopefully they will be fine. todd

  11. yea--I don't know if he will last long around my area. When you own only 160 acres that buck is obviously on the neighbors place also. He will be hard to pass. My daughters are already fighting who gets to shoot him. Right now he's pretty smart. Getting a lot of pics of him all over my 160 acres but not one daylight picture.
  12. Sighting in the new crossbow today. My youngest loves it and is ready to kill her first deer this season. She is deadly out to 30 yards. http://www.facebook.com/todd.mauldin1/posts/350782921679580?notif_t=like#!/photo.php?v=3542990694197&notif_t=like

A late congrats buddy. Hope the family is doing well. todd
  14. i bet your turnips will draw them out--especially after a good freeze. I always include a little sorghum in my spring plantings. those deer love the seed heads come winter but never seen them actually eat the green forage. good luck Chris.
  15. Learn from experience. I'm afrain mine are going to be a bust. got mine in 2 weeks ago with good chances of rain--unfortunately didn't get the rain i needed. Just enough to get germination and nothing else. Afraid the seedlings are going to die from dehydration.
  16. yes--same reason iron sights on a rifle are more accurate than a pistol.
  17. yep--he is a great asset to Team Realtree:clap: todd
  18. Second summer of extreme temps and droughts. We got about 1/4 inch of rain yesterday evening on OKC but need a lot more. Hopefully relied will come soon. Todd
  19. Had the pleasure of meeting David Blanton yesterday. He was the key speaker at our church's Beast Feast. Very inspirational message as he shared his story of how he became involved in hunting, meeting Bill Jordan, and his relationship with Dale Earnhardt. Lots of laughs and also few tear moments. A great spokesman for the hunting community. David-thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to share your story with us Okies. Myself and my two daughters enjoyed your message and your passion for God, family, and the outdoors. Todd
