  1. Re: Walker\'s Game Ear (or similar products) The way I looked at it was simple. If you buy cheap you buy twice. So I just went with the Walker muff at the sporting show in Harrisburg, Pa. I love them, but I have nothing to compare. I have only used the Walker's.
  2. Re: Detachable magazines Actually I just looked at the CZ website and noticed that some of their rifles do have the exposed magazine. I corrected myself.
  3. Re: Detachable magazines I kinda agree with LETMGROW on this one. I know that people disagree, but let me explain myself. If you look at all the other "drop magazine" guns you have to drop a floorplate. Then the magazine drops out. With the Remington. and the BLR, the magazine is similiar to a pistol, it is exposed. You do not have to perform another function in order to have access to the magazine. Unless you have used the HS Precision's magazine kit.
  4. Re: should hunting over bait be legal? Well if you wanted to get real technical about it, any deer attractant would be considered bait. So there for if you are against bait you should not use Tinks or anything of the like. Here in NJ it is legal to hunt over bait. I have no problem putting out some corn or apples to ensure I get a shot at the deer standing still at a comfortable range for me to shoot.
  5. Re: my success this season Congrats on an impressive buck

    xpert steel

Re: xpert steel I use 3.5" xperts in 3 shot for ducks. Works well for me. my buddies and myself have pulled some ducks down from some good distances with it. I love it for the price.
  7. Re: Bear encounters???? Not while elk hunting, probably because I have never been. But I have come across several bears while out on the mountain bike. Kinda startles you when you come whipping around a corner and there is a nice blackie in the trail infront of you.
  8. Re: any finger shooters out there? I shoot fingers with my longbow.
  9. Re: Archery Boar Hunt My father and I are looking to do a boar hunt in the next couple of years. We are heading out to Harrisburg, Pa next week for a big outdour show. I will let you know what I find out. what state or area are you looking to hunt?
  10. Re: New Encore pistol pics... Nice looking rig. Hopefully someday my pennies will add up enough to get me one of those. Good luck with it.
  11. Re: Want to recommend Burris scopes. I shoot a Burris Signature Select 3-12x44mm B-plex in my 7mmSTW. I love it. It is super bright and the clarity is great from edge to edge. I would recommend them to anyone. I got mine from www.midsouthshooterssupply.com.
  12. I am getting back into Traditional archery this spring. I was wondering what type of arrows everyone shoots. When I last shot a recurve I was shooting XX75's. I am thinking of shooting carbons this time, but not sure.
  13. Re: Black Canyon of the Gunnison That is some beautiful country to hike and fish.
  14. Re: Would you still kill a doe? I do not support sexual discrimination. I will be shooting any deer with nice hind quarters that walks in front of me.
  15. Re: My ML Fox Very nice looking animal. Congrats
  16. Re: What type of head for rabbits I second what vtbowhunter said. I use the SGH, all I can say is WOW.
  17. I butterflied the backstraps. As for the rest; jerky, stew, sausage, etc... But you have to remember that your bear will taste similiar to what it eats. If you shoot a bear that eats mainly berrys, good meat. If your bear eats mostly garage dumps, did not like meat at all.
  18. Re: I just got my mount back from the taxidermist Very nice buck and mount
  19. Re: What kind of weight are you guys pulling? At present I am pulling @ 57lbs. I have pulled as high as 74lbs. But thanks to technolgy I do not have to do that anymore. When I head out for big game I do crank it up a bit, just to @ 64lbs.
  20. Re: Buying a hunting camp Welcome to the forums. I can not offer any insight to the areas that you are looking. I do hunt in WV, but in Barbour county. I very much enjoy it down there. Good luck in your search.
  21. Re: I anyone else out there still hunting? Sat last night for a few hours. Here we can hunt till Feb 11 with gun or muzzleloader and till Feb 18 with the bow. Actually I will be taking he girlfriend out on saturday for her first whitetail hunt.
  22. Re: getting my girlfriend to hunt My girlfriend took her hunter safety course this past October. She has just purchased her 2006 Firearms license and her doe permit. I have been telling her about afternoons in the duck blind, and she can not wait to get out there. I quess I am just lucky.
  23. Re: Remington Core-Lokt I shot a deer this past year in WV with my 7mm STW using the Core-Lokt 140gr. I completely shattered his left front shoulder, he was quartered towards me. Then I shot another deer with it the same week. I shoot a lame button buck, hit him at 50 yards. Did not make a good shot by my standards, liver shot. But, I did suck half the liver out the other side of his body. I am hooked. I do want to shoot a heavier bullet though. I can buy the Core-Lokts in 150 or 160 grains in bulk to reload.
  24. Well my Northern Season for ducks ended on December 31. It was a beautiful snowy/rainy afternoon. I had mallards flying everywhere. I only took one shot all afternoon, got a drake. I was really hoping to pull a hen in close to finish my mallard mount, but that did not work. I spent almost every night of the finally week. Pulled alot of mallards in, but how many can you really shoot. So I ended up with 3 drakes. Not a bad week. But I am definately hook now. NJ Coastal zone closes on January 24th. So I will be driving about 2 days a week till then. Hopefully I can get some more pics to post, if I remember my camera.
  25. Went down to the river today to do some duck jumping. It started out as a fast day, but came to a stand still from there. Hit the river and started up stream real slow. Walked about 100 feet and kicked up 2 ducks. I only had a shot at one of them due to the trees. I could tell from the body that it was a merganser, but could not tell male or female. Duck it the water on the first shot, pure luck I swear. Well it ended up being a beautiful female Common Merganser. She is presently in the freezer waiting for the trip to the taxidermist.
