1st off Welcome to Realtree Buckshot:) I have a Wolf by CVA and I think it is a great gun for the $. I think I paid like $135 for it last year. I use it more than my T/C Thunderhawk which is a inline 209 primed gun also. I think the optima comes with a nickel barrel, thumbhole stock and the extra 2" you mentioned of barrel length. I keep 'em in a coffee cup at 100 yards(100gr777/295grpowerbelt) with the Wolf. It like pellets as opposed to loose powder. The Optima is the same gun, basically less 2" of bbl. I like the shorter barrel for the thick woods I hunt.

Let me show you a pic from someone I know who took this PA buck. They found a broadhead in it when butchering. The head was concealed perfectly with no infection around it. According to the shooter, this was from last year, that broadhead. There were no open wounds on the animal. So they can survive with a broadhead in 'em. This deer was taken in gun season. Keep your head up and keep hunting.

:D:D Last year I had to buy another freezer. We have one upright and a chest type. BOTH are full. With 5 deer taken this season between Joe and I, we are bulging with meat. My wifes screaming there is no room for her stuff:p. We did donate 2 deer to two family's that were less fortunate and do not hunt. We still have this weekend to go with the smokepoles:)

We have broke records in this home this deer season. Of course we never had this many( soon to be 2 more) collecting venison either:D Between my son Joe and I, we have taken 6 deer. Him 4 and me 2. He shot a HUGE doe on a drive Saturday. I love them does...can't eat the horns, but I have to admit horns would be nice every now and then:rolleyes:. The pickings/opportunities have been slim. Good bucks would not cooperate to commit suicide and walk within 30 yards of Joe or I with a bow. Where we gun hunt there is a 3 on one side rule. So the pickings are even slimmer. We donated 2 deer to the venison donation program and put 4 in the freezer. I'd still say it was a good year and we ain't done yet! Muzzleloading is open til next Tuesday.
