Hmmmm, Been hunting about 20+ years and picked up a bow 8 years ago when gun kills became less challenging to me. The 1st deer I ever saw with the bow in hand, went in the freezer; a doe, with a used bow that didn't even fit me right. My 1st buck was a tall spike 2 years later and my best was a 6pt non typical 3 years ago has been my best with the bow. At least a doe a year has made the freezer.

I'm feeling like the little kid before opening day myself . We tuned up our death wagon. A big garden kart that gets used for only one thing...getting deer back to the house quietly:D A little cold front will help get them moving. Joe is drilled in for up to 50 yards and I will be sitting in another tree about 50 yards away from him with my bow and more importantly...The video camera:). I hope to get something good on cam. I hear ya Mike...I was laid off 2 weeks ago:(. It bites. Hey, at least it is hunting season:). That might help with the sting of being out of work. I am looking at maybe 6-8 weeks out, maybe more with the holidays coming:rolleyes:. Hope you get back to work soon and things get back to normal.

Welcome to the Realtree forums Willis. Much of urine is ammonia based. Pouring ammonia out and making a mock scrape works. With one quart I made 4 scrapes and almost always... it piques a deers curiosity and gets them to stand long enough to settle your pin on that lung. Now food attractants are whole 'nother story. I hunt a apple orchard occasionally, and you will never see me there without a hot thermos of apple cider. Deer like molasses, so any of that on a stump where allowed. would work also.

Make sure there are no empty shell casings either in the bed of the truck...maybe even wash that blood off of it too:D You don't want to be on any lists...You know? I have worked with the Secret Service at Yankee stadium on many occasions. They scanned the stadium before every post season game and electric closets were high on their list of places to look with the sniffing dogs. I had the keys and gave them access to everywhere we had the keys to get them in. A bunch of us went out and got those black glasses after the 1st day we worked with them. That finally made them break out laughing and loosen up a bit. They were very tight lipped.

That is amazing as to what a deer can endure. If this was a sheriffs vehicle, I'd think he didn't shoot right away because he was worried about the electronics on board. I guess it could be put down as to only a hole in the floor or door. That close of range definitely a pass thru. I'm curious as to how the rest turned out.
