See if there are any Triple Tax free bonds available for your home state. Those usually go to help finance the infrastructure of your state and you see both ends of the investment in the better roads and bridges and tax free at maturity. Some are longer term than others. I would check from time to time where the barrel meets the receiver. One of the shortfalls of the 710/770 was, that it is a pinned barrel design, for economy; not threaded. I think in the magnum caliber you have, it might be something you should look at occasionally. Good Luck with the rifle. If your happy thats all that matters.

I don't know much a bout the call system you are using, but as a hunter you know the MOST important thing is the wind. Calling yotes are a blast I use the FoxPro caller and it is good. The hand blown calls are great for the variable pitch they deliver, on how hard you blow. As with calling yotes a visual with the sound helps close the deal. A stuffed animal on a spring with some fishing line connected to it, to move it works wonders. That keeps the attention away from you. Hope some of this helps. Good Luck!

Snare traps are ILLEGAL in NYS. http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/9209.html Soooo...who ever set that snare trap did so illegally. Wood chucks do not have a great range...so the list of suspects is pretty small:rolleyes:. There are not that many people living around our hunting camp. BUT I do know the damage they do can drive people to the edge of criminality. We shoot them back here with the bow where we live in suburbia( my son has 5 this year with the bow:D) and with the gun upstate at our hunting camp. I do not eat them. They are coyote bait.

Who hunts Oak flats in NYS? If you do... How has the acorn crop been? Reason why I'm asking is... The monster White Oaks we have around here have not produced acorns like they usually do. That = less deer:( What has everyone else's Oaks been doing? Come Heck or high water....my son and I will be out there come Saturday/Sunday morning. I'll be out there a lot more than that. I am recently out of work and have plenty of time to fill the freezer.

Dang Ranchand99...You have to have a BIG freezer:) Congrats and a BIG cool Dad thumbs up too:cool::cool: I am fresh back from 4 days at deer camp. Scouting, raking trails, making sure the stands are solid and trimming shooting lanes. I did happen to shoot a few crows while looking for the elusive eastern turkey:D. I also introduced my cousins kid, to the sport hunting and skeet shooting. I took him out with me on 2 hunts as I was working crows with the Foxpro caller. He saw how it was done:p and how skeet shooting helps one to stay sharp when wing shooting. I think he is hooked. I told him to take his hunter ed courses and next time he could be the one with the gun in his hand. This coming Saturday is our deer bow opener. I cannot begin to tell you how pumped we are in this house:).

Welcome to Realtree... Fellow New Yawker The .243 is based on a .308 cartridge. So outside the neck of the case, capacity has to be the same. I would think similar recoil. The .308 also has a tremendous amount of bullet weights you can chose from also. Much more versatile. The Marines shoot 1000yard matches with the .308. Hows that for accuracy of a caliber? Of course the shooter has something to do with it too. let us know what you do
