    That Was Fun!

Be careful... mid engine cars handle WAY different than front engine cars. The word over steer comes to mind when making turns. Very different than other cars, BUT...A Porsche is a real drivers car no doubt. Lucky you.
  6. You have NO chance in keeping your job? That bites big time. The medical field is always in need. There will always be sick people and cars too, and as long as there are cars, people will need autobody work done. With your background, would that help? Can you find any work with part suppliers? I wish you luck Craig...I know what your feeling. I'm out of work now and I saw the layoff coming:( Prayers coming your way Pal.
  7. We have the same problem here...over population. Do you have one of those HUGE grill guards on the front of your truck? When we went down to west Texas in march, almost every truck we saw had those big guards on them to wack the deer and keep going without incident.

    Outa Here

Good Luck and have a safe trip!
  9. You owe it to the animal to be as proficient as you can be with the weapon of choice. Make that 1st shot count. My 1st deer I ever shot( forkhorn) took 3 shots to put it down. I hit it, it kicked...ran 30 yards and stopped. I shot it again, it ran right towards me and stopped when it saw me. I put it down with a neck shot. I hit it all 3 times and all of this happened in about 10 seconds. Adrenaline on both ends. Since then, a deer has never given me a chance to shoot it twice. Bow or gun. I have recovered every deer I have shot. Bow or gun. My 1st deer was the only one I ever had to shoot more than once.
  10. Good Luck Craig...go get 'em:) I'll be leaving for my hunting camp in Sullivan county ,NY at noon today. I have been laid off now 4 weeks now, so this really works to be able to hunt whenever I want. My wife does not care...she says more room in the bed and no snoring...Gotta love her huh? She even made me a Ricotta cheese cake, to take with me to camp...What a gal. Halloween and the surrounding days are the pre rut phase down over here. Good time to be in the woods. So I will be looking to add to add to our score. I have found Bear scat around the property, and all that I find is apple skins in it...Good I'm hunting a apple orchard:D I know this is a deer contest, but I have never taken a bear or yote with the bow. Looking forward to doing both. Ohh...If a buck with 3 on one side steps out, thats legal for our area, he's getting stuck. Good Luck everyone this weekend! Anthony
  11. Continue to use a rope to hoist your weapon after you are set and tied off. Depending on how high up go, give an extra 5' or so extra of rope, so the UNLOADED weapon lays flat as you climb. You can put markers on the rope to determine your height as you climb. If you can climb the tree, there has to be no branches in the way of your climb right? So as long as you don't jerk your rifle as you climb, and let it lay down slowly when descending. Any decent scope and mount ought to handle that kind of handling. As far as barrel obstructions...well, its your job as the shooter, to make sure the barrel is unobstructed before you fire; knowing the kind of handling that the gun just endured. A simple fix would be a piece of good electrical tape over the muzzle. It will not effect your accuracy. I do this in snowy wet weather. Keeps the the junk out. Good Luck.

    On my way...

Mike, have a safe and successful trip! Man... if you don't have a chance at a booner in Ill, I don't don't know you would! Go get 'em. Looking forward to hearing your stories when you get back.
  13. Hope you get to feeling better Ruth.
  14. Can you say fresh? Enjoy the fruits of your labor:). You made me hungry.
  15. Thought I'd share this... 'Twas the night before elections And all through the town Tempers were flaring Emotions all up and down! I, in my bathrobe With a cat in my lap Had cut off the TV Tired of political crap. When all of a sudden There arose such a noise I peered out of my window Saw Obama and his boys They had come for my wallet They wanted my pay To give to the others Who had not worked a day! He snatched up my money And quick as a wink Jumped back on his bandwagon As I gagged from the stink He then rallied his henchmen Who were pulling his cart I could tell they were out To tear my country apart! " On Fannie, on Freddie, On Biden and Ayers! On Acorn, On Pelosi" He screamed at the pairs! They took off for his cause And as he flew out of sight I heard him laugh at the nation Who wouldn't stand up and fight! So I leave you to think On this one final note- IF YOU DONT WANT SOCIALISM GET OUT AND VOTE!!!!
  16. Sounds like it was a fun trip and with 5 guys...Yup...thats make everything more affordable and fun too. Congrats again to Jordan...nice bull. Glad your home safe and Diana did a great job of keeping us all up to date.
  17. School the boy well like Strut10 advised, and the 30/30 will be the perfect deer gun for him. good luck to you both. hunt safe!
  18. Wow...How true. My Dad never hunted and I am the one in the family who is the hunter. I did manage to have 3 sons who are all into hunting/fishing and the outdoors and successful hunters in their own right. The time I spend afield with them is the best times of my life. The youth turkey hunts here in NY have been memorable to say the least. I love lagging behind the boys with the camera taking pics all day long while they hunt. They hate it...I love it. I hope to create the wonderful timeless memories with my boys, as you guys have had with your Dads.
  19. I recently changed earlier this season, from a Tru-Glo single pin sight to a 3 pin(.029) G5 Optix sight on my Mathews Outback. The Wisker bisquit is a good rest for fast bows. The amount of speed you lose is negligible, but it is hard on the fletch. Thats the trade off. I still use a prong type rest, a NAP Quicktune 3000. But I am looking at the Schaeffer drop away for next season. Whatever rest and sight you go with, make sure it is micro adjustable for fine tuning.
  20. Never had a fletch come off with the Bohning fletch glue. Its inexpensive and it works for me.
  21. Glad your back in the groove. Good luck with the new job and good luck to Pops too hunting!
  22. Good Luck and wack something BIG!
  23. Great footage William. Congrats again to Christina. I love videoing kid hunts. The reactions are priceless.
  24. Wow what a rough ride...Hope she is doing better and gets back to normal with you on stand as soon as possible Tink. Prayers on the way.
