  1. Just in time for Thanksgiving!! Nice bird.
  2. It's that time of year. Thanksgiving & the Monday after is opening day of Ohio's firearm season for deer. I'm flying out tomorrow, to hunt with family in SE Ohio.. My brother's cabin is in Guernsey County. It's a tradition that binds us. Good Luck to all & remember safety first. Bob
  3. My favorite holiday. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone & safe journeys if you are traveling. Bob
  4. Good luck, I'd like to have your frequent flyer miles
  5. Good deal. I agree on the spike being the best eating. We can't shoot spikes here in Colorado. This year I elected to shoot a dry cow instead of a 5 point raghorn. She had a good layer of fat on her.
  6. Good luck Tim. Tell Adam and the rest of the Bennetts, Hello from the Realtree turkey hunters. Looking forward to next spring. Enjoy the home cooking. Bob
  7. I wonder if that is a hybrid? Mule deer tail & body but the antlers look whitetail to me.
  8. We killed a couple of cows in the 1st season. I passed on a raghorn 5 point & shot a cow that was at 50 yards. Cows eat better. Bob
  9. Going up the mtn & hunt wapiti. I've got a 1st season either sex tag, starts 10/12---5 day season. I've got a 3rd season doe tag for my buddy's place. That will be more of a shoot than a hunt. I've got a cow elk tag for my buddy's place---that's good to 1/15/15. I've got a whitetail hunt with my brother for Ohio's gun season. That's the week after Thanksgiving. He shot my 870 this weekend. It's a couple inches @ 50 yards. Not bad for a smooth bore using Winchester foster slugs. But my big trip is back to Kansas for long beards next April.
  10. Thanks-------I've killed a couple antelope here in Colorado. It's a fun hunt. I've hunted unit 2 near Craig. Lots of goats--lots of fun.
  11. Jeff, Do you lose your points if you don't put in for every year?
  12. Maybe it's age, maybe it's boredom but I've change scopes on my 30/06. It had a Leupold VarX-III 2.5x8 for the past 30 years. Looks like it a little dark for my eyes. I put on it a straight 6X Redfield with a 40MM lense. It's made in Denver an older model. with friction adjustments, but it's bright & clear. I sighted it in today. 3 shot group-----2 touching dead center & the 3rd about 1/2" to the right @ 100 yards. That's minute of elk to me. I've thought of trying to raise it a couple of inches-------but it's right on----leave good enough alone. Bob
  13. Maybe I'll send in for an antelope point. An out of state hunt sounds like a fun DIY adventure. Bob
  14. I'm back. Had a great time. Jean out fished me but that's OK. The 100lbs of salmon fillets are in the freezer.
  15. I'm headed up to my cabin on the Kenai next Tuesday for some salmon fishing. Hope the reds are running better than they did last year. I'll be up there until the end of July.
  16. Marty----Looks like a great time was had by all. Frank & I are going pick your brain on the bear hunting. Bob
  17. Nice-----love the bighorn sheep
  18. I'm glad I live in Colorado. I draw every year, just an hour and half from home to campsite. I've killed a 300 bull----he's on the wall. Now, I just hunt elk-----I shoot the 1st legal one I see. Nice bull, raghorn or cow-----all are the same in my book. Fact is cows are better table fare IMO. Bob
  19. I like it the way it is. It's always been this way. It takes a special horse to do it. Don't say it can't be done because it has.
  20. Hope you get to see some bears---maybe a griz
  21. Good deal. DIY are the best hunts IMO. Is it 1st season----5 day season.
  22. Yep, it's official I got bumped, no high country buck for me.
  23. Did you get good video? How did the other hunters do?
