  1. That's a good one. I've always wanted to combine an exotic hunt with spring Rio's in Texas. Sounds like a good trip to get out of the snow country. Let;s hope you get drawn for oryx on the White Sands-----then you'll have a set of bookends for you man cave.
  2. That story gets better every time I hear it. It was a good time in Kansas. See you there next April. I just sent my deposit in for next year.
  3. I got a bird in KS. He was 20 lbs, 1" spurs & 11" beard. My buddy took photos and they are on his camera. I'll see if we can post. My lovely mug shot is on the thread of the Realtree turkey hunt. Greg did the measuring. Al & Tim could also be witness.
  4. I just pulled into Durango. Doug got another gobbler------It had 4 beards, 1" spurs----main beard was 10"----Doug & I had a great time. We are coming back next year. I plan on using that brand new slate call.
  5. I'm packed & the car has a full tank of gas. Plan on leaving here @ 7AM on Wednesday, spend the nite in Dodge City. Then into camp in the early PM on Thursday. I'm stoked for this hunt. Love hearing them "Gobble"
  6. I'm packed & ready to head to KS.
  7. I've got my rain gear packed also. I'm hoping that we will have a bunch of birds in hand----So if it rains on Sunday, we can have a good breakfast & then hit the road home to a Colorado merriams.
  8. I'm hoping that one of you will be bring a camera. I'd like a group photo with a row of gobblers in front us!! Plus I'm also hoping that one of you could post my photos in the turkey contest----I don't know how to do that either---LOL I'm taking a camp stool also, I was thinking that Adam had blinds already in place. I'm getting excited about the hunt-----looking forward to driving Dodge City------maybe I'll see Missy Kitty, Matt Dillon, Chester or Doc
  9. I called Adam & got the old fashion directions------turn right at, go 1 mile turn left etc-----I don't have any of that new fangle stuff----even my box calls are 25 years old. Adam we don't need anything---they have bedding, pillows, towels. They also have washer & dryer if we need to use that to dry out hunting clothes. I'm planning on getting there in the early PM on the 10th.
  10. Jeff---that's like my WY moose, I was applying for WY antelope & saw that I could buy a point for $10. So I paid the $10 for the preference point & kept it up for 7 or 8 years & then drew the tag. I never did draw the antelope---stopped after a year. My NM oryx, I was on a forum & someone post that oryx applications were due in a couple of days. I was in Farmington, NM the next day & picked up an application & mailed in the last day. I drew that tag on my 3rd choice----just a wimp, a shot in dark. Funny how things workout. Just like the RT turkey hunt in a couple weeks, I said what the heck, let's go.
  11. I sent my in as soon as I got the proclamation----I use the US Mail & paper applications. I hunt the same areas year after year, so it's a no brainer where I apply.
  12. I guess I need to call Adam & get directions to the ranch. I can get McCune via my road atlas.
  13. The only hunt I put in for in NM is elk in the Gila. I bought a hunt years ago at a NWTF banquet & have not drawn the tag yet. I put my wife in for it. For Oryx----it's just about as cheap to go to TX and then add in the hunting lodge, meals, campfire against a motel & restaurant food------TX sounds better.
  14. I see where NM won law suit about the number of Non-Res tags on bighorn sheep, oryx and barbery sheep. Looks like non-res will be getting fewer tags, a lot of long odds of drawing. I'm glad I got my oryx when I did.
  15. Looks like we have the fewest post of any of the teams. That's ok by me----we'll get the most gobblers. I hope Rhino brings his camera & can post my bird from KS. Hope I didn't just jinx the hunt.
  16. It's not work if you are doing what you love to do. Looks like a little slice of heaven there.
  17. What time is everyone planning on showing up in KS? I'm trying to figure driving time, etc----I trying to show up @ the same time as everyone else. Bob
  18. Nice bird. I get a bigger kick out of letting my wife pull the trigger. Love just watching them strut.
  19. I took the 17 out for a prairie dog hunt yesterday. It puts a hurt on them dawgs. I just wish my Savage had the accu-trigger. It has a heavy-bull barrel but it was before the accu-trigger came out. I missed a few with the heavy rimfire trigger.
  20. Which oryx hunt did you put in for? I killed mine on the Stallion Range. That was back when they gave Non-Res 10% of the tags. I drew mine on my 1st try & it was on a whim. Non-res didn't want to pony up the fee & I drew on my 3rd choice. I just put in for the hunts with the most tags. They are all good hunts. I wonder what AJ put in for?
  21. Where do you zero your 22 rifle? I've sited mine dead on at 50 yards, how low is this @100 yards? My 17 HMR I've got zeroed @100 yards--does that sound right?
  22. Hello all. I'm headed to Kansas with Rhino for the Realtree turkey hunt hunt with Tim. Hopefully the weather will be good & we get into the birds. If I usually do pretty good on the merriams here in Colorado
