We never unload ours until we shoot a deer or the end of the season. All we do is take the priming cap off.

Does anybody know where I can get some cheap Ugg Boots?!!!! I can't find any for the life of me and I need somebody to post about them. But seriously, whats with the spam, I don't think anybody on here wants some Ugg's for Christmas.

Dad's been wanting to go down there and hunt for a long time, so now that I got about a month off from school I might have to try that! My uncle wants me to wait till February to bring the head down so he can wait til deer seasons over, go figure lol. Hopefully we can keep this big lead but we still got a lot of time before its over. Tomorrow's the last day of gun season here in MO so I'll be out looking for a doe to top the freezer off. Good luck everybody, stay safe!

I didn't think of putting it in the fridge, that sounds like a good idea. He's been hangin since saturday night but the temps haven't got above freezing since then.

Thanks guys. I'm gonna take him to my great uncle down in Greenville Mississippi. He has a taxidermy shop and said he will teach me how to do it.

Ok, the high for today is 30 and its about 14 right now so I guess it will be okay.

Does anyone have experience aging deer meat? My great uncle told us to hang my buck up for a few days and let the meat age to tenderize it but we have never done it before and I don't want to ruin a bunch of deer meat. How long do you let it hang? Do I keep the skin on? What is the ideal temp. for it to be in, and what if it freezes? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the forums. I know the frustrations of hunting public land all too well. There is a large conservation area near where I live in MO and every year we get hundreds of "hunters" from the city in for gun season and there are no spots in the woods to be found. Also, in AR, the WMA's where I hunt are closed for gun season so no luck there either. Going during the week or going door to door is probably your best option, but that can be hard at times too. You might be able to find some public land that nobody knows about. I would check with your local U.S Army Corps of Engineers, or you State Wildlife Agency to get more info on that. Good luck!

You guys are making me feel terrible for not at least getting a doe yet! I still got at least 4 days of rifle time in MO. If I had a place to hunt in AR I would be set with gun season lasting until Dec 1, but all of the WMA's that are close to me are closed for gun season.

How did you guys do? I had a small doe come in at 10 yards saturday afternoon but too small to shoot. I didn't go out sunday cuz it was storming down here. This morning I had a big doe at twenty yards but the sun was in my eyes.

Another nope here. I just shake my head every time I hear this. I guess when this theory came up, no one really aged the deer, or it started somewhere in deer camp when someone shot a spike and his buddies gave him crap for it so he said it. Then his buddies, being drunk of course, were like, you know what? That makes alot of sense, I think. Then they shot a spike and told their other buddies and so on.
