Auction items for Norm and Too Pointer
Straight Shooter replied to randyoitker1's topic in Classifieds
I'll have to monies in the mail in the morning. I haven't looked yet, but were do I get a mailing address to send it to? -
Sounds like the archery business is going to end up like the firearms and have guys start stock piling things and putting shortages on all achery supplies. Prices go up and they'll start doing it.

I'd replace the string and harness all together, the harness you have on there is all ready stretched and putting just a new string on. You'd be fighting knock movement with the string stretching, save yourself some heart ache so close tot he season and change them all.

Auction items for Norm and Too Pointer

I'll go $60.00 on the items. Great package and I hope I get it. -
So, I lose 3.6 lbs. of energy when I hit an animal to get to the blades, that still leaves 64 lbs. of energy to push the blades through that animal. I've not had a prblem with pass throughs or bone breaking with my Muzzy's and don't plan on changing from them.
-
Great answer GW, I figured the blade alignment out with my Muzzy's a few years back and the shaft having a burr on it as well. I do all my own arrow cutting so I took care of that problem even before G5 came out with their tool. The blade thing was easy enough to fix, I just quit using the tool that is provide with every pack of Muzzy's and finger tighten the Trocar tips. I now have very consistant broadhead flight on all of my heads.

Yep, Karma. There is a difference between setting a goal and telling everyone what your going to do. kar·ma (kär'mə) n. Hinduism & Buddhism The total effect of a person's actions and conduct during the successive phases of the person's existence, regarded as determining the person's destiny. pre·dic·tion (prĭ-dĭk'shən) n. 1. The act of predicting. 2. Something foretold or predicted; a prophecy. goal (gōl) n. The purpose toward which an endeavor is directed; an objective. I have a goal of killing 10 Does this season and at least two bucks over 100 inches, but I will not say that I will kill this many deer. The big goose egg does bite a big one. It's been quit a few seasons since that has happened but it is a kick in the gut when it does happen. Every minute I can sit in the woods is a minute of greatness, enjoyment, and relaxation.

It's been two season ago since I have missed my last deer with my bow, but if you hunt long enough you will miss. Doesn't matter if it's misjudged yardage, twigs, slapping your arm, used wrong pin, the deer jump the string, or just plain out brain farts you will miss. If your ever in doubt of a hunting buddy at camp, check their quiver. Took one of my hunting buddies two season to tell me that he had missed twice instead of once. He washed the arrows off in a creek to cover his misses in case I checked his quiver.

I'll predict that you guys will know what I kill when I kill it. I try not to full with Karma, it can be your own worst enemy.:clown:

Well, it's getting that time of year again and we'll soon all be having new photos of our kills. I thought I'd go ahead and get a sticky up for this year and give everyone a heads up that I will be un-sticking the old thread soon. On a side note, let's try other post to minimum. I know we all want to give everyone their props they are due, but some have ask to see just pictures and a few details of their hunts. Thank you all for you cooperation.

First off, welcome to the forums! If I had your options of living or hunting anywhere, I'd pick out a state that is surrounded by three or four good states and move there. That way I'd have the oppertunity to hunt each of them and all of them being not a bad travel time to get to any of them. Your options would be wide open.

I killed some deer for the first time in four years with a rifle and that was the first time I carried my rifle in as many years. I only went rifle hunting because there was nothing better to do for the last days of hunting season. I have surpassed the amount of deer I've killed with a gun by bow killed deer. So, I'd say that I'm a Die Hard bow hunter. I do save my guns for my son and use some of them to go groundhog hunting and target practice. I've also purchased a TC Contender to hunt with this fall, a one shot pistol what could be better?

bump:clown: 150.00 shipped

Your speeds are plenty adequate for deer hunting and anything else that you might want to hunt in North America. Using a good sharp broadhead and an accurate shot will do the job.
-
I've got a looper target for my fieldtips, a glendale full rut and a block target for my broadheads.
-
Not a bad broadhead if you ask me. If I go away from Muzzy heads these will be the ones I choose.

I sunk a little money into mine last year, I got tired of buying those Wally World back packs every hunting season because of them ripping or breaking somewhere. Camelbak back packs are what the military uses and are very durable, so far I have been very impressed with it. http://www.camelbak.com/sports-recreation/hydration-packs/ranger-xt.aspx

Good shooting, It does look like your ready to go and best of luck on that big boy! I've been doing the same with my Glendale and can't wait until September 12th myself.

Those who know about crossbows
Straight Shooter replied to Sherk's Guide Service's topic in Bowhunting
Most of them out there are pretty darn good and accurate just like a good compound. Yes, they will increase your shooting distance but I wouldn't suggest getting a compound just for the fact of longer range and not wounding deer. Practicing more with a compund will take care of that issue. Compounds, crossbows, and guns all wound deer and have there effective ranges, "All require practice". -
If your 40 yard pin is at the bottom of the your sight cage, then your first pin isn't center or just slightly off center within your sight cage. Everything should follow off the first pin. Move your cage down and adjust all the pins up; this will give you better visability while shooting as well and just might accomodate you for a 50 yard pin. I hunt with Copper John Dead Nuts and have plenty of room for a 50 and 60 yard pin. My tourney sight has 4 pins with the bottom being a 50 and still room for a 60 pin if I want it. The speeds on all three bows are over 280 fps, if you are shooting anywhere near these speeds you should have no problem of getting 4 to 5 pins in any sight. It just sounds like you needs to get a few things adjusted to meet the needs you are wanting with your bow.

A Big Ditto on that one!

I've been doing my own for the last 10 years now and its more of a pride thing than a money saving issue. I do a lot of arrows so it does pay off in the long run and I went in three ways on an arrow saw; so that wasn't expensive either.

I pray for the families of the victim's and hope this dude or dude'et stays in Spartanburg. This is only 45 minutes from my house by way of Interstate. I'll have to watch the SC news station and follow this closer.
