Re: Goldtip Question I've got two bows one on 65 # the other on 67# with a 30" draw length and the 5575's work just fine. You just don't want to get over spined with the 7595's, the numbers are the upper and lower range of draw weights they are rated at. You'll be just fine with the 5575's.

Re: Monster Bucks V Volume 1 Get it! Cheesehead, Duh! His head is full of cheese and not brains. No need to continue to try and defend something that doesn't need to be. He's just someone with nothing else to do but stir things up for fun.

Re: Monster Bucks V Volume 1 That doesn't hold a lot of water coming from someone who will not fill out any fields in their registration of who you are. I can say that this is not true in any fashion and to say at least four more arrows being shot at a deer while running off sounds more like a dove hunt to me. I doubt the Byran Nelson was in the tree next to them. On another note, Welcome to the forums!

Re: Local Walmart possibly hooked up with Antigunn Two Wally's around here have removed all their guns and will no longer sell them. I know it's not for the fact of not selling, they can't keep them stocked for selling to many. So it's not the case of not selling it's deeper than that. It's down the political road, think back to k-mart not selling anything above a 22 rim fire bullet anymore. I hate it has come to this and I'm afraid it's only going to get worse, but of course it's the guns that kill not the people.

Re: When fletching arrows... I guess I'm odd man out here, I use the sharpest box cutter blade I've got. It's all in the feel and angle of the blade, it doesn't matter how sharp it is. I've been doing this for quit a few years now with great success and plenty of arrows to prove it. Just use what works best for you.

2007 North Carolina Get-Together
Straight Shooter replied to unioncountyslayer's topic in Announcements & Online Contests
Re: 2007 North Carolina Get-Together Man I'd love to make it, but my wife is throwing me a 40th birthday party on the 3rd. We are going to have to figure something else out that we can get together on. I'm up for a day at Gander Mountain in Greensboro or day at the Bass Pro Shop in Charolett. Charolett is 2 hours from me and Gander Mountain is 3 hours, but I'd drive to do it. We could go and spend some money and make the wives, for those who have them, mad! LOL Let's make something happen if you guys have any other ideas. -
Re: Whisker Biscuit Shooters I'm a 30" draw with a 27 3/4" arrow.

Re: Pins on sights? Put your first pin in the slot closest to you when holding the bow, then stagger your pins on down. Depending on how fast your bow is shooting will determine if you've got enough room for all the pins. Most sights come with plenty of travel in them now and it shouldn't really be a problem. Also, start your first pin as close to the center of the sight as you can, after setting the yardage on the other pins you might have to move it up. Having the pins towards the middle of your sight cage gives you a better view through your sights.

Re: What do i really need Un less you go through alot of arrows an arrow saw isn't a good investment for you. They aren't cheap and I wouldn't recommend anything less than a quality one like Apple Archery makes, for example. If you only go through about a dozen shafts a year, just get a Pro Shop to cut them for you. Fletching jigs are mostly user friendly and just take some pratice with using them. I prefer the Jo-jan fletcher in a single fletch. Its a slow process with doing one fletch at a time but it gives you a good equal fletching job on every shaft. Check out a coupleof Pro Shops in the area and see what they are using to give you some idea of what you might want to purchase. Fletching your own arrows is fun and cost saving, have fun doing it. Some extras you might want are alcohol to clean the shafts, your preference of glue-I use Fletch-tite in the white tube. Some 400 grit sand paper to rough up the fletching surface, get a clear rubber worm box for a assortment of fletchings if you want to shoot different colors of fletchings-it keep them flat and neat. Just a couple of ideas.

Re: Cable Question No problem IL, sorry I've had a lot going on this week, I've had pneumonea and several cub scout functions to attend, just glad I could help you out some.

Re: Long Cut vs. Side Chew That's to funny! It's kind of like asking which will kill a deer faster? A 1" cut broadhead or a 1 1/8" cut broadhead, they both will do the job if you use them.
-
Re: Cable Question A split harness is truely split at the end of the harness to attach on both side of the limb axle. this is to prevent the limb from twisting on the draw, it distributes the pressure equally. It also serves a purpose of lower the wear on the axle bushings. Two cam bows will generally have a split harness on both ends vs. a one cam will be split n the idler wheel end. A standard string is attached to one side of the of the axle. It's primarily in older bows and very few are made this way now. It allows for the wheel or cam to twist at full draw.

Re: Fletching Jig ?? Blazers are pretty tough to fletch and I'd recommend any fletching jig with a magnetic clamp. I use a Jo-Jan and it's been a trial and error with it. I finally taped another fletching at the opposite end of the clamp to hold it level since the fletchings are so short and would allow the front end of the clamp to fall forward a bit and not let the fletching stay in contact witht he arrow shaft. With a magnetic clamp you don't have to worry with that. Also, you can't go wrong witht he blazers on a biscuit, these are one tough vane and work very well with broadheads.

Re: Afraid to draw my bow now.. If your worried about the limbs, just take some tissue paper and run it up and down the limbs. The tissue will catch on any split in the limb and let you know you have a crack. Other than what has been said above the only other way is to shoot the bow. I don't know if you were inside or not, but NEVER pull a bow back indoors unless your on an indoor range and NEVER do it without an arrow nocked. If your at a 45 degree angle drawing it back, your pulling to much weight. You should always have the bow pointed in the direction of your target just in case something like this happens. I hope all is well with your bow. Be careful.
