Re: kinda sad Wow, that is really sad to hear. The poor family....

Well I'm still at Star Lake but my mom emailed and they were leaving a little after 8am so sometime after 12pm, probably around 1pm, mym om and sister will be here to pick me up. It will be good to go home but I have become adjusted to this place so I'll miss here and the people I know. I hope maybe sometime in the future I can come up here again. It is awesome to be in the Adirondacks, have a lake to canoe and fish on. Yup, the Adirondacks are addicting, although we are just inside the Adirondack Park, not real close to the High Peaks. Right now it is a little cool, damp, and windy so I'm trying to decide whether to go out in the canoe for a last fish or what. What do you all think?

Ny Emergency Plan for CWD from NYS DEC
Turkeygirl replied to Squirrelhunter91's topic in Deer Hunting
Re: Ny Emergency Plan for CWD from NYS DEC Coming up to Star Lake two weeks ago, I saw ALOT of dead deer on the side or mashed into the thruways. Why doesn't anyone clean them up or why doesn't the DEC get them and test them? I feel like the DEC "Talks the talk but doesn't walk the walk". -
Re: NEW JOB! Congrats on the new job God has blessed you with. Good luck!

Re: What a Day!! Great work Shaun, congrats to you and good luck in the future!

Re: The LAST thing you want to happen ... I recommend NY state. You get the 4 seasons and you learn to appreciate each one as it comes. NY doesn't have hurricanes or earthquakes (we did have a slight tremor one time) or tornadoes (we did have a small one a couple years ago several miles away but no biggy). Good luck with the air conditioner. I know my mom's is getting old....

I'm still at Star Lake in the Adirondacks, will be coming home Saturday but I wanted to ask you all the keep my sister and us in your prayers. I called home last night to find out then my sister, with 2 other girls in the car, went to turn up a road to campus to clock out after working custodial. Well there is a bad curve after this road therefore opposite traffic, if not going slow won't see you turn. Well I guess as she turned, she didn't see a car coming the opposite direction (one of the girls with her was either bent over in her way and the other driver going over the speed limit) Well they hit almost head on and our car was totalled, really bad I guess, the other driver's car not so bad. Praise the Lord nothing serious happened. My sister had a laceration on her shin, a few bruises and some whiplash, one girl got a bloody nose and the other girl broke the windshield with her head but they all were ok.So my mom is at home holding the fort down while I'm still here.Finances are tight so we will be short a car for awhile and we need to have a well dug sometime which won't be too soon. Thanks everyone and I hope everyone is doing well!

It's me, I'm still in the Adirondacks doing Wilderness First Responder and I'm still alive! I miss you all, lol, and hope things have been good while I've been gone! Last Saturday I went out fishing on Star Lake in a canoe. Coach (my professor from college, who I know fairly well, I know his kids more, lol) he took me out and I caught 2 landlocked salmon, about 15 inches! Their flesh is so orange, I froze them to bring home! Been a little windy here but warm and sunny. We have Sunday's off, went to a state park on Sunday and saw a Bobcat, my first sighting ever! Well I have to get ready for class but I just wanted to pop in and say HI!!!!!!!!

Memorial Day pics from Pine Creek, PA

Re: Memorial Day pics from Pine Creek, PA Nice pics, pretty country! -
Re: WHY!!! Wow, that is sad, it really is. I'm glad the kid is ok but talk about alot of stress put on you! I hear of these stories on the news about kids being shot and/or killed because someone was playing with a supposedly "unloaded gun". Parents need to realize it is their own fault the kid gets shot because they didn't check the gun nor lock it up properly...

Re: Turning 30....advice needed Ok, how about 30 is just a number... numbers don't define a person. It only means that is 30 years you've lived but it doesn't mean you're going to start decaying, lol. I hope you had a great birthday!

Re: Members and the way you feel about them Wyohunter - I never see him on except for once in a blue moon but "yelp yelp....cluck cluck..." should say enough, lol Tominator - He knows alot because he is a teacher and he also has alot of great advice. Buckee - Like Tominator, he usually has advice to give and good words to say at that. WomanWhoHunts - Just because she isn't on that much doesn't mean I don't like her, lol. Really, I love WWH, she's got lots of animals, she's got humor, she's a woman so she can understand what guys can't (no offense to the male population on here, lol) besides she is a woman hunter! Too-pointer - Another great guy you can talk to about almost anything and get great advice and he's kindand caring (from what I know, lol) I know I left ALOT of people out but TSBH set the limit but it is hard to choose just 5 because there are alot of great people on here!

Re: What\'s happening in NY I saw a few hens this season and like you TP, plan to put my sites on one of them this fall! The only gobbler I heard and saw the entire season was 2 weekends before the opener....

Re: What a weekend.....and trip Definitely a nice area in PA! Did the bike trail run along side Pine Creek? I've been to the PA Grand Canyon and hiked down to Pine Creek (and crossed it). They have a nice trail along side it.

Well to everyone in here I'm saying a temporary goodybye. I leave tomorrow around 10am for my college's campus at Star Lake in the Adirondacks. My mom and sister are driving me and a girl who is also going needs a ride so we are going to fit her in also. I will miss all of you and maybe if I have timeand access to a computer, will pop in to say Hi. I'm a little nervous/anxious just because I'm afraid I'll be homesick like I was at that horrible camp 2 summers ago. Hopefully I'll be too busy though and the days will go by fast. Please pray that we have a safe trip up and my mom and sister have a safe trip back home. They'll probably come pick me up also. It is going to be about a 5 hour drive, with the three of us taking turns driving. Also please pray I'm not homesick, though I'm afraid of shedding a few tears when my mom and sister drive away By the way no turkey this spring, 2 years now with no turkey but hopefully this fall Love ya all and take care while I'm gone! By thw way I should be back around June 18/19 then I start working custodial at college on June 20 to pay for next semester, woohoo

Ok, so considering how that one post in the Deer Hunting forum is going, about Jim Shockey and all that mess, I was wondering how do you define hunting? I personally would liek to say hunting is the ethical pursuit of wild game in a legal manner, but hunting does not always mean being successful. Hunting can be enjoying the entire pursuit of whatever your hunting. And while there are laws for each state regarding what to hunt with and how many animals to hunt, no two hunters hunt the same. There are trophy animals, sure, but in my mind...any successful, legal kill is deserving of the word trophy next to it. Hunting is using God given abilities to use His creation wisely. Ok, my disclaimer isn't to start an argument but lets consider how we each look at hunting.....

This is going to be my first year since I started shed hunting without finding any sheds!!! What crazy year....no sheds and no turkey (unless tomorrow is my lucky day) If I'm lucky, maybe I'll find one during the summer or something. Congrats to everyone who has had good shed success!
