  1. and should be ready for duck season. About 50% of the millet is starting to head out. The seed heads look pretty good to me but since this is my first planting of jap millet I don't know. Here are a few close ups of the millet: Here is a pic of the entire pond--it's drained as low as it can be right now. I'm thinking in about 3 to 4 weeks it will be time to plug her up and let her fill: I sprayed about 2 acres on the edge of the pond about 3 weeks ago and mowed it yesterday. I'll plant this with some wheat and austrian winter peas for the geese and deer: todd
  2. bermuda will start to slow down here pretty soon. I probably wouldn't worry about it right now and hit it with post next spring when it is just starting to take off. This will give you the best kill--however I've sprayed Post in hot temps and never had it hurt my clover.
  3. 22 bucks a box seems kind of expensive to me. I'll stick with my Kent Fast Steel. i believe i saw a commercial on the black cloud--seems like that have round shot but also a different shaped shot for better penetration????
  4. Brian--I got about 6 inches at my house and about 6 to 7 at the farm.
  5. lil'---you've grown up! Just seems like yesterday when I joined and you were just a little kid! good luck this season todd
  6. good deal--keep us updated on the progress.
  7. very sad indeed. Prayers for his family. todd
  8. No--here is a link to what I was talking about: http://www.vetamerica.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=809
  9. those heaters can sure run up the gas bill. We will have another good month or so with our pool. Right now I have the waste pump going. Woke up with water flowing over the pool. We received over 5 inches of rain in the last 9 hours.
  10. yep--i agree with the others. Clean it and bag it and ready for the grease!
  11. cut pads can take a while to heal. Unfortunately pads don't hold sutures well so we usually just let them heal on their own. My favorite bitter tasting ointment is a product called Bitter Orange. It is an ointment not a spray so you can apply it to the skin and hair around the pad and not affect/irritate the actual open cut. There is a product called EMT gel that you can get at many sporting good stores that carries dog supplies--it is applied directly to the would to help prevent infection and aid in healing. The problem is most dogs just lick it off as quick as you put it on. The most important thing you can do is keep it clean. Flush and clean the wound with hydrogen peroxide twice a day--this will get all the dirt and ground particles out of the would and speed up healing. good luck todd
  12. how much sunlight are we talking about?
  13. if you want to overseed the plot I'd wait until about mid-september. Try to plan it right before a good rain. You could broadcast it now but it probably won't do anything until it starts to cool down and we start getting some decent moisture.
  14. i think they look great!!!!
  15. i hunt small bodies of water over decoys so about the only choke I use is my IC---later in the season if the birds are not decoying as well i'll stick in the modified. I shoot Kent Fast Steel 3" #3s todd
  16. just my opinion here--but why in the world would Jeff Foiles take a chance of doing something like floating a shell when he knows it would absolutely ruin his career. I've never met the guy but love his vidoes and the enthusiasm that he shows. I'll take the man for his word--I don't think he would risk his career doing something illegal! todd
  17. the buckwheat is not winter tolerant. It will die on the first good frost. Regular wheat is a much better choice--however the buckwheat will give some early attraction.
