  1. So has anyone done at squirrel hunting this weekend thus far? I got up at 7am today, got the .22 and went out for a morning hunt. I managed to get one gray out of a Beech tree, although I need a few shots, lol. I need to shoot the .22 and see if the scope is off, or maybe it was the leaves and branches. Either way, getting a squirrel with a .22 makes cleaning alot easier I'll probably go out again Sunday morning and see what happens
  2. Re: Gas Prices DROPPING.... finally Wow, New york must be ripping us off! I've seen it for $3.19 at two places and everywhere else was $3.39!
  3. Re: A BIG THANKS TO A FEW FORUM MEMBERS Oh yeah, thep eople on the Realtree forums rock! BucknRut went out of his way to find me a great deal on a pair of camo bibs and sent them to me; thanks again Art!
  4. So I'm wondering how you all are these days? Obviously I'm not on as much with school but I know things will pick up, especially with deer season approaching in October. It is only the second week of school and I can't wait for the weekends. I'm actually staying on top of homework (a bonus for me,lol). Tomorrow I've got one class then an eye doctor's appointment at 1pm (ugh) then hopefulyl back by 3pm to do my training room job, then home to probably relax and do more homework Next week I have to go take a course on driving the college vehicles so that I can help drive the backpacking class students to their trails and then I get to go along with them Well I have a short time until bedtime. I'll try to keep my post count rising on here, lol. Take care everyone and stay out of trouble Oh yeah, and intramurals start soon
  5. Re: UPDATE Well I know I won't be going but you all have fun for me! Besides the fact that my mom doesn't like the idea of a girl going to the Adirondacks with a bunch of guys I have never "met", I will probably be helping out a professor by helping her drive a bunch of backpacking class students to a trail and then backpacking with them.
  6. Re: Its official, riffles in the southern zone in NY Well I'm not really surprised but I laugh at the part where they think having rifles is going to help prevent deaths in automobile accidents, reduce the spread of Lyme disease, not too mention the part about deer dying of starvation? I don't know about the rest of you but deer do not die of starvation around here very much if at all. Only once have I found a dead deer that I knew probably starved too death, which when we had a really hard winter. Rifles are about as humane as any firearm are bow used to hunt deer! Oh yeah, and if the deer herd is growing, how come they are giving us fewer DMP's? Duh, some stuff just doesn't sound right. I can't afford to hunt with a rifle but I'll hunt with what I've got. I just hope some people think before they pull the trigger on their rifles because in my area, there tends to be a farm on the other side of a hill or field.
  7. Re: 2002, they were warned.... Well I did hear when listening to the news that they didn't expect Hurricane Katrina to hit so hard and to move so slowly when she hit which made the damage so bad...but still they should have expected the worse and been more prepared.
  8. Re: Squirrel hunting camping trip!!!! Still sounds like a good time. Congrats on the success!
  9. Re: What happens when..... Wow, that's gotta hurt! You are ok I take it?
  10. Re: First success of the season Nut, the one squirrel had 2 warbles on it, right above its shoulders on its back. I hate those things, they are so gross. I ended up skinning the shoulders in the woods so I didn't have to carry those gross critters back home!

    6 bucks

Re: 6 bucks I think some of these prices are just plain illegal! It was $3.19 when coming home Friday from classes. I haven't been out all weekend (well except in the woods, lol) so I don't want to know what it is but I'll find out tomorrow!
  12. Re: CWD-POSITIVE DEER IN WEST VIRGINIA!!! That is sad to hear. The thing is, has this disease already been in existence and not known until all these tests have started to be done? I dunno but lets hope it doesn't spread.
  13. Re: Freaky Mother\'s Day Skeleton That is a really cool rack! Wish I could find something that cool around here, lol.
  14. Well I got up at 7am and went out for a morning squirrel hunt. I nailed gray squirrel on the ground while slowly moving down an old logging trail. I spent maybe the next hour and a half slowly stalking through my hunting area, listening for falling nuts. Finally I hear the wonderful sound of Beech nuts raining down from a Beech tree. I sneak up and find a gray squirrel way up near the top. I have to wait until he moves to get a shot and then I find there are 2 squirrels in the tree. Well I got one of them and missed the other one (I hate pine trees, lol) so that is 2 gray squirrels on my record. Anyone else have any luck?
  15. Well yesterday I just bought a pair of Lacrosse AlphaBurly Sport in Forest Green boots, size 7 and they fit and feel really nice! The store also had the Alpha Burly Sport of Realtree Hardwoods with 800 Insulation but I didn't want to pay the price and I have a pair of boots for cold weather. I think you just have to try didn't boots on and find what you like and will suit what you are using them for.
  16. Re: Talk about devastation I've been watching CNN and it is almost like a movie but it sure is unbelievably real and very very sad. Thanks Racksie for helping them out down there.
  17. Re: It is time for us to get into shape!!!! I feel like it is illegal for gas to get this high in a matter of hours but what can we do? Gas was $2.61 when I went to classes in the morning and $2.97 when I came home later in the afternoon. This morning is was $3.19!
  18. Re: Everyone on the edge.... I know, it is total chaos. Things seem to be getting worse rather than better down there and no the gas prices are higher than ever. Right now we all should be praying for these people and that things starts to get better down there. It really is sad but God knows everything that is happening; it is in His hands.
  19. Re: Opening day results Same here squirrelbuster! I went out about 4pm. I walked and sat in a few of my really good spots and only heard one gray squirrel call and that was it! I think maybe it was too warm; I usually have better luck in the mornings. I also saw a couple deer and the hickory and acorn nuts were abundant. The Beech nuts don't seem to have a great crop this year as far as I can tell.
  20. Re: Turkey choke question.... Thanks everyone. I'll check out your suggestions. I think in Cabela's they say factory style and the ones for the Mossberg look like the same type of chokes I already have for my gun but I'm not positive.
  21. Re: Less than 48 hours.... Good luck guys! Lets post some photos of our success!
  22. Re: In 2 Hours Don't hurt yourself Tominator, lol. I'll be going out after squirrels in an hour or 2. Good luck to ya Tom.!
  23. Well it has been kind of busy, this first week of classes at college. Yesterday, the professor of my Kinesiology class told me she wanted to see me after class, but I wasn't in trouble Well I had to leave early to go to another class so after class I go down to find her in the training room (she is one of the athletic trainers). I find out that the trainers want me to work in the training room again, so beginning next week I get paid to work 1 hour a day, 3 days a week in the training room Well today I run into some girls I worked custodial with, the one girl is a freshman and she tells me she is going to check out the JV soccer practice, then says I could come try out, as they need players. I've only played intramurals but I'm like ok. Well I get home and talk to mom and them ore I think about it, I realize that if I played, I would lose not just hunting time but time for myself, and myl ife is busy enough as it is. Even if I don't fire my gun, being in the woods by myself are some the best times I have during the week. So I'm going to stick to intramurals and be able to relax a little, although I always feel dumb the first few times working with the trainers because I don't know what to do,lol! So this is myl ittle up date to all of you and I hope everyone is well! I'll be going out in about an hour to hunt some squirrels and look for samples of plants for my class.

    Free Stuff......

Re: Free Stuff...... Ok, I looked, lol!
  25. Re: Build a survival kit for RyanH Moleskin: works good on blisters. You cut a piece off and cut a small circle in it and place it over the blister. A few Triangular bandages or Cravats: You can use them to make a sling for your arm or for making a splint or helping stabilize your shoulder if you injure it. Cell phone Extra batteries for the headlamp/flashlight A plastic tarp and some rope you can use to make a shelter if needed. Am I getting carried away, lol, I had an entire course on this stuff:-)
