Re: contest ideas/opinions Spyder, you must mean warbles, the larva that live under their skin? I've shot a few in my hunting career with warbles and I'll cut a little bit of the meat out where the larva was in the skin but otherwise they don't do much unless your squirrels get alot of them. Only once did I not keep a squirrel because it had like 5 of them on it. I think having teams and doing it on a weekend would be good. I only hunt grey squirrels though because I don't eat the reds or anything.

Re: Squirrel hunting camping trip!!!! Go for it and have fun! I did that once last year. I took my tent and some food and camped out in the woods then got up in the morning and went squirrel hunting. It sure is easier to sleep where you are hunting than to have to make a drive or walk to get there,lol. I hope to do that again soon. Good luck to you! I plan to go out the evening of opening day.

Yesterday evening I decided to go for a walk up into one of my squirrel hunting areas. This requires a walk through an unchopped corn field to get to the woods(get my drift?). I get to the woods and as I walk quietly along, I hear something coming down a tree. I stop and see the head of an animal, a really small animal. I wait and when it comes down onto the ground and towards me, I see 2 baby red squirrels! They were so adorable! They hopped along, rolling and playing and didn't even give a care about me! I grabbed the disposable camera from my pack and ran to catch up to them and they still didn't care. They were about a foot from my feet! Gosh, they were so stinking cute and I got some good photos which I hopefully can scan and post on here. I don't think I've seen anything cuter than when one of our rabbits has bunnies! Just seeing those adorable critters made my walk so worth it! I just had to share

Well guys, I'm still alive. Classes went well though there will be alot of assignments and class projects to do. I am so exhausted from classes and the fact that I didn't sleep well last night. I got my laptop re-imaged though and at least I know a few people in each class which makes it a little easier. It'll be a busy year but I hope to get all A's and B's this semester and the next. Well I'm tired to that isabout all I can write but I'll be in here as much as time allows

Well friends, tomorrow is the first day of classes at college and the first day of senior year. I've heard senior year at my college isn't as all hyped up as people make it. I think my college makes more of a deal out of freshman than seniors,lol. My first class is at 10am every day and it will be a fairly difficult semester but there is definitely room for hunting! I can't wait ti finish this year but I am really unsure of where I'll do my internship next summer and what I'll do after that; whether I get a job or go back for athletic training somewhere. If I go back to school, that will mean more money and staying at a college somewhere which is scary. Oh well, guess I have to trust God. Anyway keep me in your prayers and I'll keep you all up to date. Oh and if I'm not on alot, school is the reason why.

Ok, I use a Mossberg 500 20 gauge with a full choke when hunting turkeys. Cabelas is the only place I've seen carry other chokes to fit my gun. I was thinking of upgrading to either the Turkey Extra Full or Turkey Super Full choke in Cabela's. Could any of you tell me what the difference is and would one of these chokes perform better than just my full choke I have? I'm hoping maybe the extra or super full will pattern better which would help my gun a little more but I'd like to hear any advice before I decide to get one. Thanks!

I need your help! I had some camo tape on my gun from turkey season. It is basically camo athletic tape to describe the type. Anyway I removed it in order to get my gun ready for squirrel season and make sure there is no rust. The tape left a bunch of sticky tape residue; how do I get it off? My mom suggested acetone but I do not know if that will take the gun paint off also or not. If any of you know how to get this junk off, please let me know! Thanks!

Re: What a pain........ Well my mom called the eye place and I get to go on Sept. 8 at 1pm. It'll be annoying but I suppose it could be worse besides I won't miss the squirrel season opener next week!

Re: Another \"What would you do?\" Since I'd only have one buck tag when hunting with my shotgun, I'd go with the injured buck, he probably won't live, it would be humane, and I would feel better about it, not too mention if he died somewhere, it would be a waste of good meat God provided. Let the big buck spread his genes.

So besides feeling tired and burned out this week, I come home to find out that in order to get a new contact lens, I have to go get my eyes checked! Ugh, I'm a college student with only 1 day a week that I'm really free and now I get to look forward to going to the eye doctor sometime in the near future. I hate medical appointments with a passion!Ok, so the last time I had my eyes checked was like 2001 but if anything changed, I would noticed. I only have 1 contact lens because when I was 8, a pine needle poked me in the eye, destroying the real lens and that had to be removed, meaning I wear a contact lens in order to see out of my right eye and I do use that eye when shooting the bow, otherwise I learned to shoot the gun left handed. Will you all tell me an eye check-up isn't as bad as I make it? I'm just so sick of doing all this stuff and I need a break!!!! (can you tell I'm stressed)

Do any of you ladies have ah unting season coming up? Squirrel season starts Sept. 1 in NY so I can't wait for that! Then Grouse and Rabbit October 1, Archery deer season Oct. 15, fall turkey season Oct. 22, and Shotgun deer season mid-November. Good luck to everyone!
