  1. I'm just wondering because I'm use to a release where you squeeze the trigger to open the jaws and let up to close them, I just got my Scott Shark in the mail the other day, so far love it, but I noticed if the release is not on the string, if I just open and close the jaws, one light touch to the trigger and the jaws snap right open. Now if I have the jaws on the string and there is some pressure, it's fine. I'm just wondering if this is normal for a Scott release? Guess I'm just adjusting to a new release.
  2. A wonderful and blessed Christmas! Take time to remember the true reason for celebrating...it's not about the gifts or snow...it's about the best gift of all:) Stay safe in your travels!
  3. Nice looking rig! One of these I'd like to have a UTV type of deal...wanted an ATV before but the number of patient's I've taken care of that have come in from rolling their ATVs....I'm leaning away from those...
  4. Congrats to him on a great deer! In NY we can't carry 2 different weapons during a season...
  5. Glad you were ok! That lady should be glad you stopped! I've had a few close calls but have not hit a deer yet but the roads I drive on are loaded....
  6. I try to but don't always....don't really see any difference but most of my shots are 20 yards or closer.
  7. Anyone shooting any leagues over the winter? Called the shop where I shot my first league last winter and they are starting up January 7th. Hope my new strings get in soon, I need to get shooting. Looking forward to going every other week and shooting some 3D targets:D
  8. It's not the gun, it's the person behind the gun...and if you look back to alot of these tragedys, the person pulling the trigger has some type of "mental health" issue....that's the real problem! The mother of the guy in the connecticut shooting had her guns registered liek you and I, the kid doing the shooting was the one with problems, not the guns...
  9. Happy birthday, hope it was great!
  10. From dbhunter I got a super awesome Cabelas fleece vest! Thanks Dan, have been wanting a camo fleece vest! Will get a pic for the rest of ya;)
  11. Well I have Easton Flatlines for hunting and shooting...all the 400s I had broke while hunting on deer...and they may be a tad stuff for my 53 lb, 25" DL bow. I have a few 500s for 3D and am actually going to go to 500s for hunting as well but I think I'm going back to Bemans - looking at the ICS ProHunters...
  12. You're a shed finding machine wooly!!
  13. Late archery/ML ends Tuesday. Went out this past Tuesday evening and tonight, have a ML antlerless tag....no deer seen but it sure is exciting to tote a ML around:cowboy: No scope on it, just open sights, so planning on close range shooting. Going to try and get out in the AM.
  14. She's a beauty, treat her well! My knife from Ross finally gutted and skinned some deer this year...wonderful knife, holds the edge well. You will love yours!
  15. I actually think the Scott release will help me with my shooting..when I tried the Shark, I actually had a suprise release...I tend to get a little punchy and a tad panicky. The Scotts are definitely awesome!
  16. I pretty much just go to Gander...last couple times I went to Dick's, the prices made me go :-o At least at Gander I find some good in-store sales and this last time a clearance aisle;)
  17. Absolutely horrific...these poor innocent children and their families....leaves a pit in my stomach.
  18. Also might jus tbe my opinion but moving your stands once a month is a bit excessive...We scout out our locations, find good travel areas, and set our stands and leave them...We rarely move stands unless we find deer are consistently moving out of range, etc...then we'll tweak the location a little bit but otherwise if we find a good location, we leave them...prune our shooting lanes if needed. Deer get used to them...we've had deer walk right under our stands, a neighbor even said he had a buck come up and was licking the ladder stand rungs and I had one this year walk right up to the ladder stand.
  19. I don't think height matters so much as the background you have to break yourself up in the tree and what is surrounding you...and the wind direction you are hunting....Killed last year's 9 point out of a wood stand barely 10 feet off the ground...another stand I killed deer out of was maybe just over 10 feet from the ground. My deer this year were all taken out of ladder stands, not sure how high they were, but I'd say they were somewhere between 12-16 feet, but it's more so where the stand is set-up that matters.
  20. We buy the typicalsquare bag of shavings but our horses don't stay in stalls, they can free roam into the barn and pasture. Our shavings get used more for the ducks and chickens.
  21. We haven't heard from a couple of our team members, maybe we ought to drop them a PM!
  22. I grimaced just reading that...ouch!
